Need help with Fat % Measurements

lodid

New member
I just purchased a FatTrack II Digital Body Fat Caliper.

I have read the instructions several times, however I am getting from 24% to 29% within a 4 hour period.

There must be a flaw in my measurement technique.

Any suggestions?!?!

Bump, this has to be wrong!

If my math is right, at 24.5% body fat, my lean mass is 165 and my body fat is at 53 pounds?!

This just sounds WRONG to me?!?!

I'm 6 foot tall, I have a gut (beer gut) and a little chest fat. I can't imagine that adds up to 53 pounds?!

Anybody have pictures of 24.5% BF?

Help?!

Anyone?!

I would double-check your digital fat caliper with a regular one; I had friends who bought one that read way too low - couldn't even get a reading off it when I tried to use it. You can usually get a trainer from the gym to do one for you for $10 or so - that way, you can also see how they measure.

BTW - if you're doing it yourself, you want to make sure you're using the same site every time. I actually pull out the measuring tape every time and mark off the same exact site.

I've never found one that was very accurate... I think the most important thing is to find one that gives consistent results so at least you can tell if you're gaining or losing fat.
