Hi...for those of you who asked me to post my results...here it is. I guess my liver count was 43....normal is around 38-39......so.....really not too extreme. Why my derm's office called me and got me all stressed out I don't know. Anyway, my derm faxed results over to my doctor who said that anything could have caused the elevation from a cold or virus to EXERCISE ( I did work out that morning before my blood was taken). He wasn't concerned at all. However, I do have liver disease in my family so I guess it's something I should keep a check on. Anyhow, thanks to all who replied before. :)

I guess my liver count was 43....normal is around 38-39. 43 for either ALT or AST is nothing. Meaningful elevations are at LEAST 2 - 3 x normal and a hard workout can push ALT or AST into the low 100's in guys.

What sort of liver disease runs in your family?

My grandma just past away recently from non-alcoholic cerrhosis (not sure what the true medical name is). She never touched a drop of alcohol in her life.

PBC (primary biliary cirrhosis) or rarely PSC (primary sclerosing cholangitis)

I'd be looking at GGT and ALK PHOS if you were concerned with that vs aminotransferases (i.e., ALT and AST).
