I just came back from the shelter with her. They said that this information was WRONG. They are a kill shelter and they said right now they only have a 30% adoption rate on cats. SIGH. So, I didn't leave her there. Frick. I do have a conscience, but my son is allergic and she is destroying my house.

I've put ads on craigslist so many times. It doesn't work. Maybe I will try an ad in our paper.

I said IF my kids needed food I would have NO HESITATION feeding us the family pet. I can't imagine such a circumstance occuring but if any parent couldn't make such a decision easily then there is something wrong with them. period.

If you would rather let your kid starve, then hey who am I to say don't do it?

The example is extreme to most of us in the united states but those who live in countries that aren't as abundant in wealth share my point of view.... except Indians. I don't understand being so poor that you would elect to abort a female child because you can afford it (female child = financial drain while male child = security) but wouldn't eat a cow.

Not my family or my life or my child, so I really don't give a fat rat's ass either way.

Oh and btw I would have the same feelings if it were a dog, a goldfish, a cute fuzzy duckling or an ugly crocodile. All animal life = one tier and all human life = a separate tier.

If a body doesn't share that viewpoint, good for them as it does not affect my life one iota so I am trying to understand all the venom and hostility because I think a different way?

My dear lady, you do not have to make excuses to ANYONE especially not on an internet discussion forum inhabited by people who aren't going to come to your home directly and take the cat.

You have a son that is allergic in addition to the fact that this animal that you have been keeping alive for YEARS is destroying your home.

Again, will the local vet take the pet off your hands?

Nothing could be further from the truth. don't forget I RESCUED HER from the pound, have fed her, gotten her shots, petted her, doted on her, etc. In return she had RUINED thousands of bucks worth of stuff.

I will ask, but I doubt it. They will probably put up a flyer for me, though.

I don't get everyone's hostility toward me, either. It isn't like a beat the damn animal. I did RESCUE her butt from the shelter afterall, or she would have been dead years ago.

I'll look around some more....sorry about that. I did specify the humane society over the shelter, but I'm not sure what difference that makes.

That's okay. They said that they don't know of any no-kill shelters in Ky. She said it "just isn't feasible." She said that there used to be one in Frankfort, but that they are stringent about the requirements of what animals they would take. It was very hard to get an animal in there. SIGH. She didn't think that they even exist anymore.
