More carbs before workout?

-Multivitamin, 60G whey + 2tbsp Olive Oill, banana, 1/2 cup oatmeal
-schoolfood
-20g whey with 8oz grape juice (pre)
60g Whey + Milk + 2tbsp Olive Oil (Nonworkout days)
-60g whey with 16oz grape juice, 1/2 cup oatmeal, Vitamin C (post)
-10oz chicken breast, 1/2 cup oatmeal, banana, 10oz milk, brocolli
-10oz chicken breast, 10oz milk, banana
-60g whey in milk
Water, aiming for 1.5-2 gal

That's my diet now, do you think I need to take in more carbs before I workout. My only meals before my workout (at 4:00) are breakfast, school lunch (dont usually have many carbs), and then preworkout whey + grape juice. Should I move my workout so it's an hour later, then I can have one more carb meal--1/2 cup oatmeal?
 
Even though I don't know how much you weigh or what your goals are - I would say no. In terms of fueling your workout - it (technically) doesn't matter what carbs you've eaten beyond your pre-workout meal.

How long before your workout do you consume your pre-workout shake?
 
About 15 minutes.

I'm 170lbs, I just want to gain as much muscle as I can now without gaining much fat--gonna do AM cardio.

I was going to change the diet to this, so I could have another carb meal:

7:00-Multivitamin, Vitamin C, 1/2 Cup oatmeal, banana, 40g whey + milk + tbsp Olive Oil
-school food
3:30-1/2 Cup oatmeal, 40g whey w/ milk + 2tbsp Olive Oil
5:00-8oz grape juice w/ 20g whey
Workout
5:45-6:00-16oz grape juice, w/40g whey, 1/2 cup oatmeal
7:00 - 10oz chicken breast, brocolli
8:00 - 10oz chicken breast
9:30 - 40g whey with milk
 
I would eat the carb 60-90 minutes before the workout.....
you don't feel bloated when you eat it 15min before the workout...??
 
Should I take a simple carb like grape juice before my workout? I thought eating oatmeal an hour before then grape juice about 15 minutes before was good.
 
Personally I would go without the grape juice...

I like to exercise on an empty stomach (an hour past my last meal for instance) - I guess in part because of the theory that the less blood being used to digest food means more blood in the muscles....

But I do know a lot of people who like having some simple carbs immediately before hitting the weights (and some who even sip a carb drink during). This choice also depends on whether you are bulking or cutting.
 
Well that's the thing - consuming simple carbs before you workout will preserve glycogen - but if you're trying to lean out - you want to deplete glycogen....

So someone in a cutting phase would avoid the immediate pre-workout carb source...

For overall growth however, I can't deny it's a good idea to prolong intensity, etc.,
