Hey bros, I haven't been on in a long time but still lifting. Anyway, I'm wondering why it's necessary to switch exercises while doing a max effort day (westside) every 1-3 weeks. I understand that you can go stale from doing the same thing over and over, but why haven't I ever seen rep changes? Wouldn't that be enough to disrupt the whole adaption process?
For instance:
1-3 weeks, you lift 3 singles >90% of 1rm.
Then, 1-3 weeks after that, you lift 3 doubles >90% of 2rm.
Then, 1-3 weeks after that, you lift 3 triples >90% of 3rm.
All with the same exercise.
For instance:
