maintenance cals

After dieting, I could maintain my weight at 2400-2800 kcals. I just finished a couple of months of bulking, eating about 3400-3500 kcals, and gained about 12 lbs, including a fair amount of fat. My goal is to lose those pounds, to get back at my old weight with less fat. Do I simply go back to 2400-2800 kcals, or do I have to reduce calories further, to actually create a deficit, because 2400-2800 was a mainenance level of kcals.

In other words, will eating what it took to maintain my old weight get me to my old weight, or will I have to further reduce kcals to get there first?

the only way is to try it and see. start eating at your maintenance calories, monitor progress for a few weeks. if you don't lose any fat, cut calories
