Looking to put on MASS...My NEW diet....

Tom Treutlein said:
Only one shake a day on training days. I don't use much powder as of now.

If I needed that much protein though (2g/lb or something) then I'd use tons of shakes.
a few shakes( 2 or 3)a day is fine but the bulk of your protein should come from whole foods..specifically animal proteins..im eating 400g of pro now i have one shake right after workout and one before bed..those 2 shakes are about 140g of pro the rest comes from whole foods..

Hows the diet been so far?

Have you been having a hard time with all the food?

Still worried about getting fat? LOL

mavy, you'd be surprised how the cottage cheese shakes tastes, it blends amooth with no lumps, and you can flavour it anyway you want. You have the convenience of a shake, but its real food.
I forgot to mention that I always have a huge scoop of metamucil(fibre) right before bed, that really keeps things moving. I also have 6 tablespoons of EFAs per day, I cant remember if that was in the original post by jkurz

how are you abs now? bf%?

You can see an outline . My bf is around 10 % currently @ 253 with a lbm of 230. That would be awasome if I was 5'6.............Im 6'4. I need another 50 lbs of mass so Im bulkin till I get it then Ill lean out, I figure by the time I get the lean weight I want Ill weigh around 310-320 at 15-20 % bf then Ill cut down to 290 @ 7-8 %

I would like to point out that bio-individuality also plays a major role in nutrition.

1. A study found that when subjects consumed a beef only meal 80% of the protein was hydrolized upon leaving the stomach and entering the intestines where digestion continued. It took subject anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes for the meal to leave the stomach and enter the intestines. This is an amazing difference in time to digest protein that shows just how different people may more effectively utilize protein Vs. others.

2. Even with micro nutrients the human body's ability to assimilate and utilize nutrients as well as requirements vary dramatically. Most "men only" vitamins don't contain iron because even with a crappy American diet men are getting more than adequate levels of iron. High levels of iron are very difficult for men to eliminate from their systems and toxic buildup can cause serious and permanent damage. I personally know a bodybuilder who has to take a daily iron supplement on top of a diet high in red meat, which contains the most bioavailable form of iron(heme iron), otherwise he will become anemic. His iron intake would be toxic to "normal" men and would cause serious health problems but due to bio-individuality his iron is low normal to mid normal.

That being said, everyone has to experiment to find the best diet for their body. I followed the 1 gram per pound rule for almost ten years and it wasn't until the past couple years when I consistently went to 1.5g/lb that I saw dramatic improvemnts in my physique and how I feel.
