Last Minute Comp Questions

If I'm cutting sodium, do I want to eat any the morning of the show? I'm still using a lot of sodium right now and plan to cut it out 36 hrs before show. I'm doing a light carb load (sweet potatos and sodium-free rice cakes) when i cut my sodium.

I was planning to have a little chicken and a sweet potato first thing Sat morning, then before the show have rice cakes with natty pb and natural grape jam. The natty pb has sodium, that's why I'm asking.

Also, what body parts do you want to pump and which one do you NOT want to pump before the show? I know you shouldn't do any legs. I want to do chest, bis, shoulders, what about back and tris?

Thanks everyone.

If you're concerned about sodium, get PB that is just nuts. At Whole Foods you can actually "grind" your own PB or you can get PB that is nuts & just nuts. NO salt. I've never really done an explicit sodium load before so I haven't worried about it.

RE: pump up -- just do your shoulders & calves.

Well, I was thinking that maybe having a little sodium after cutting it out would make me look vascular, but not sure.

Really, just pump shoulders and calves?

In my case I cut sodium 2-3 weeks before a show, not really have tried it days before.
Sometimes red lean meat and a cup of red wine... helps for vascularity before a show

when is your show?

When I cut out the sodium, Thursday night/Friday morning. 36 hrs from competition. Just doing a light carb load this time, I think I overdid it last time.

I can't say how this would work for you, but here is what my trainer is having me do.....

Add salt to food starting Sunday 8/21, stop by noon today - 8/24. No sodium after noon Wed, no sodium on Thurs, Fri & Sat.

Fri nite I'm to soak in an epsom salts bath. Plus I'm starting on Taraxatone + Potassium tomorrow & Potassium + Chromium + Taraxatone on Friday. Carb on Fri are 133g carb via 1/2 cup brown rice for 1st meal, yams for 2nd & 3rd meal then just veggies for the next 2 meals. In addition to my meal plan for Sat (which is the same as Fri) - 2 hours before I'm to go onstage I'm to have a rice cake + 1 tblsp jelly + 1 tsp. PB every 20 mins....

Oh & on Fri/Sat - I'm to stay off my feet as much as possible....

That's new to me, what are the benefits of this epsom salts bath?
