July 30 competition need advice please.

Frisky your very supportive and positive. Thats real goood to hear that.. I have some pictures but they were taken two months ago and I don't look the same. I retained a lot of water because of an experiment went wronge.
Someone told me yesterday that I shouldn't get onstage if I'm not ready and he also said I might have a bad experiment if I do as I see all the other girls in top shape and I'm not quite there.. I might get discouraged. I dont want that to happen.

I see you did a real good job with your training and diet. You look amazing!!!

How long did it take you to get there?

I've had tons of ups and downs and to be honest.. it all came together in the last 4 or so weeks. changed diets ALOT.

that last week is wicked.. I dropped 9lbs of water YES! Seriously, I know what you mean by not feeling you will be at 100%.. hell I was 3 weeks out from my target show date and I Did it. It was a crazy experience for me, I had some bad BAD moments and then some good ones. I was not at my best but I don't think I'll ever be at a point where I won't want to better my body.

Had I not done this warm up show I'd be making the mistakes in the show that I really wanted to do... I learned so much, abiet the hard way, but I won't make those mistakes again.

What ever you decide to do, don't let what others say sway you from your decision. I had someone tell me that they were surprised that i actually made it for show date... those 5 days made a huge difference in my body and had people at the gym stop me and ask me wtf I'd done.. LOL

go with your instincts. IMO I'd say do it for the experinece and to get the kinks out...

Frisky was very close to ready tho IMO. So this was a good experience for her ... I don't think she did anything wrong in the last week's prep and the issues were more around comfort on stage, being a new face to the stage & judges, perfecting the posing and just sort of that whole "presentation" thing. THAT is what a first show is for. Because you've been training & dieting like crazy for months, however you can't really "train" to handle being on stage unless you go do it.

My only caveat is that you need to be in the ballpark of ready otherwise it won't be the best experience for you. That is where you need to take a constructively critical look at where you are. And you need to do it on a daily basis and consider how much lead time you have to prepare. Then just go do it. Just check your progress and adjust your decisions as you go. If people you know want to see it, it isn't your job to entertain them, but rather get on that stage if you feel you have the training down far enough to go get the stage experience.

The biggest thing about a first show is people tend to build it up to be a life or death thing -- like if you bail on teh show you are a complete failure in life and you may as well just pack it up & go jump out a window. You should plan ahead anyway and pick a series of target dates so you have some leaway with it all. If just plain old aren't ready for whatever reason, the toss that date & focus on the next without feeling like a complete flop. Its just a show. There are LOTS of shows!

But like Frisky said, there are crazy amounts of changes you can affect in 1 week's prep and its good practice to see how your body responds to the process -- I know people who have competed for years and continue to tweak that process every time they go out.
