When I first started SERIOUSLY dieting, I used a food scale. I measured my protein and my starchy carbs (potato mostly). I also used a measureing cup to measure everything else. I never limited greeen veggies - so what is the point of weighing or measuring them?!
The food scale was cheap - about $10.
It was invaluable to help me get an idea of what portion sizes are. Now, I don't have to weigh anything, I can eyeball it easily.
