I guess that when people is starting and don't want to mess up their cals and ratios they need to weight the food as well as calculate the amount of carbs, fats and prots they are getting in.

Once you know your body well enough you can tell what works and what not... but I still always wonder how people claim " I have never counted cals in my life"... that is a gift.

I do weight foods once, and then notice that and that is it... Otherwise, how would I know how much of anything is in a chicken breast, or in a steak???

just my 2 cents...

I'm not a forum expert here, but, do you measure your food? Properly w/ a scale?

When I first started SERIOUSLY dieting, I used a food scale. I measured my protein and my starchy carbs (potato mostly). I also used a measureing cup to measure everything else. I never limited greeen veggies - so what is the point of weighing or measuring them?!

The food scale was cheap - about $10.

It was invaluable to help me get an idea of what portion sizes are. Now, I don't have to weigh anything, I can eyeball it easily.

HIIT - High Intensity Interval Training

* Intervals can vary in length, but usually are something like this:
1 min hard - 1 min easy
1 min hard - 2 min easy

when saying HARD and EASY meaning at what speed?

DING DING DING...thats just about exactly what I was going to say.

I bought a scale this weekend @ the start of my contest b/w my friend and I and I found that I was BOTH over-estimating AND under-estimating my intake. Since I am eating as clean as possible, I need a scale to measure my portions b/c I don't buy any pre-packaged crap meals.

If you want to be scientific about your dieting and intake...get a scale. That way, you can taper off your carb/fat portions correctly and incrementally as the diet progresses. You won't have to deal with guesstimating and hit-or-miss weightloss bullshit.

good luck.

For HIIT, there is no set "speed" to put it at to make it 'easy' or 'hard'. It is all individual. Every HIIT workout is personalized for the individual - and for that day and energy level.

Hard Interval - balls to the wall, all out, gut busting, chest heaving, I-think-I-am-going-to-die feeling

Easy Interval - recovery, so it needs to be low, if you did the Hard interval correctly, you will need it without a doubt.

Let me know if you have more Qs.
