I'm confused: daily ratios

When counting your daily ratios, do you count them by grams or by the calories that they represent?

Since carbs and protein are both 4 kcal/g but fat is 9 kcal/g, these two ways of counting them would yield different results.

I always thought that this was done by the calorie and not the gram, but not sure anymore.

Example:

2000 calories 40/30/30 Protein, Carb, Fat

Protein: 800 calories/4 k/g = 200 grams
Carbs: 600 calories/4 k/g = 150 grams
Fats: 600 calories/9 k/g = 67 grams

That’s what I though!!! I got this ratios calculator that counted them by the gram, just realized that the stats were way off!!!

thx
