The entry form had height classes, but they just lumped them together. The whole thing was a joke. It's obviously a marketing driven organization that just wants to have a specific look so they can advertise it as that. They made everyone practice their walk so it was to their liking. They basically treated everyone as if they were in a high school beauty pagent. This was a definate girly girl event. Fake attitudes, girls eating candy, doing shots, real grown up shit! There is a group of girls that frequent these that are trained by Cathy Savage. They had a definate link to Fitness America. Some of them should have placed last, yet they were in the top five? Not to mention they did borderline stripper routines, (for an organization that told me are very conservative?) The announcer was totally unprofessional. Whoever was running the sound board was clueless. There was no refreshments available, for a four hour event! The thirty dollar spectator fee was a rip off to see this train wreck event full of cottage cheese asses! I can go on...

But I had fun?????

Anyone in the Chicago area should check out the NPC Junior Nationals the weekend of June 17th...

Sorry to hear it was as cheesie as all that....

Definitely target some better shows next time! But again, its just getting that first show under your belt that gives you some context to plan for the next...! Call this one one of the items you check off the list of "Taking the overall in a figure show" steps to success :)

I think the fact that it was a joke made it easier for Elana not to get nervous. If she sticks with Fitness and other shows judge on skill, she has a good chance on doing well. Few of these girls did any of the basic stuff. Their gymnastic skills were severly lacking. Hell Elana was one of the only girls that did one arm pushups. She did two with each arm, the other two that did them only did one rep with one arm. They were really sloppy too.

I think Elana want's to work towards bodybuilding after this. We'll see how she feels after the next show were going to.

No, it was not NPC. Here are a few of the competitors...
This is a fitness girl. Really tight rear??
This girl just took an NPC show in WI. She was really stuck on herself I guess.

Lightweight men. Guy on the left won.
Heavyweights. Guy in the black suit won.

The lightweight took the show. It was funny. Being a natrual show. One of the heavies was coated with chest acne. He lost...

Hey Sassy.....

I just wanted to say hi and see how things were going....as you can see the information that nsashblol was explaining about the show..I was a bit dissapointed. I really do enjoy the fitness aspect of it, but I think my heart is really with bodybuilding... I know I have a ways to go, but I am working SO hard in the gym, and my eating is really in check ( i didn't have it in check before hand, but nsashblol and p has helped..thank GOODNESS)... anyway, i know i have a ways to go, but I would LOVE to compete in a contest... do you think I am crazy and too farfetched to compete in a contest next august or maybe a bit earlier? My dearest friend will for surely compete in one next August..she is ripped and looking great..and i would love to do it with her...what do you think...i would love your advice

I say go for it chica!! Either way it is a learning experience and my motto has always been...better to take a chance and lose than wonder what might have been!!!

Good luck in all you do!!

M24K & Sassy had some good posts for Ish99 today...apply them to your situation as I couldn't have said it better...

M24K

"...Do not let it consume you. Work your ass off, diet like you're going to win this thing, but in your mind make sure to remember this is your (first) show, and you want it to be something to remember so don't get carried away, do the best you can, and pay attention to what is going on, soar it all up, and most of all enjoy yourself.

Do not set yourself up for disappointment, regardless of your placement walk away a winner even if you are dead last because you are a winner the moment you step on stage and show that audience what you've been workng so hard for you are a winner. You need to remember to compete against yourself, do not set your bar to high right now, just enjoy the experience.

And once you've done your first competition you'll know what you need to improve on and you can work from there.

I wish you nothing but the best huney, and I really want you to enjoy this competition, so don't have any expectations, just train and diet like you mean it, and whatever happens happens."

And Now for Sassy

"^^ What she said.

If its your first show, how can you have a true assessment about what these other girls have that you don't? There's almost no point to even worrying about it. And whatever they have is going to almost certainly be skewed by whatever politics are inherent to the show anyway. It is nothing but your first step along the path of a person who has experienced figure competition for whatever purpose YOU have. If you make your goal "WIN THIS CONTEST", that's a very short-ended goal over which you don't necessarily have full control. Get out of it what is appropriate to get out of it. Anythign more than that is icing on the cake! If even nothing more than just gettign on stage, you will have accomplished both something most people wouldnt' have the guts to do, and also one complete experience in figure comp. In one day you become a fountain of knowledge and an old hand at the whole thing. The one thing you dont want to do is come out of it miserable. That will cost you more than just the day of the show. It just simply is the wrong goal and absolutely not worth it."
