How to know when you've done enough sets

Spatts,

:D I don't know that I'd call my work "noble." I mentioned to a co-worker at a company lunch recently that I'm trying to avoid processed food & she said, "That's a very noble goal." Nah, it's not like joining the Peace Corp or anything.
:) Well, there's more than meets the eye. Indeed, I presume Arioch thinks I've got some potential - cuz he's been helping me set up a more WSB-based program - which of course will include OL too.

I do put lots of energy into my own program & will continue too. Actually & this whole bizarre conversation began simply because I mentioned that I want to maintain in my arms - rather than increase bicep size, that's all. PLer's don't focus on bis & I plan to adopt that component as well - b/c further size in my bis is not a priority right now. I was just excited to read that if I drop the volume of training in my bis by 50%, I won't lose the size if intensity remains the same. That's all. I do realize that this is not a certainty, but it would be nice if it were true. -> I DO want to rearrange priorities, that's the point.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand ... no further comments on intuitive training and set numbers? Poliquin also lays out some pyramid-type schemes, which by definition mean dropping the weight in the last few sets - I wonder how that gels with the ideas initially posted?

I want to know what Spatts used to do while she was doing her 60 minutes of cardio FTITM walking uphill on a treadmill. There's NO WAY that can be strenuous enough to demand all of your attention. -> Not everyone who does moderate intensity cardio is a loser.

Never said they were, and this was not my intent. It has been my experience that gyms with televisions in them tend to cater to the "toning" crowd, and I actively dislike them.

I fail to see why doing cardio makes you a geek or worthy of destruction.

It does not. You are aware of the fact that I still manage to play lacrosse, as well as receiving a fair amount of cardio through sled dragging, sandbag carrying, jumping rope, etc. While I dislike most forms of cardio, it is simply a personal dislike and in no way indicates that cardiovascular fitness should be overlooked.

Am I to start to believe that an integration of worlds - aerobics & general fitness (teaching my yoga-based class, etc.) & PL / OL can not possibly be done? I can't be an OLer aerobics instructor?!

Not neccesarily. I manged to do quite well as a strength athlete while playing lacrosse in the off-season, and working to maintain my cardiovascular fitness during my heavy lifting and throwing season. It is difficult, but not impossible.

You're making me feel that way.

This was never my intent, and I most sincerly and humbly apologize.

I have no desire to eat the weak. I'd like to help them get stronger. I guess that's why I'm better suited to be a personal trainer than a competitive PLer.

I do not understand. Everyone starts out weak. The only difference is in the path they take to achieve their personal view of strength. Mine is different than yours, but then it is different than most people's.

I DO want to rearrange priorities, that's the point.

This was what I was trying to say, evidently quite poorly.
