Hi i'm a newbie....here's the deal

Hi everyone. I've been reading posts for awhile, trying to educate myself before I actually ask some questions and stuff.....here's the deal.
I'm 18 years old. I used to be a model (hate saying that) and then i became anorexic (lol...predictable). so i went inpatient, came out and found that, as you all said in a post about anorexia, that my body fat percentage was about 30%. So I started working out again, and instead of going back to modeling I started to shoot for fitness...and that's my story. From anorexia i have hypothyroidism, which doesn't help. Right now my bodyfat % is at 20 and i need like a kick in the ass or something to get it down!!
My diet is pretty clean...lots of isopure, egg whites, chicken breasts, salad and veggies, and flax oil and a ton of water. I do 30 minutes of cardio on an empty stomach about 4 times a week, sometimes 45. I hit the weights pretty hard, 3 times a week for about an hour, hitting all the major areas - workout resembles Body For Life w/ few modifications. I've never done AS or anything like it. The strongest thing i've ever taken is ECAs for a boost. I am open to trying something a little stronger, more effective. That is, if y'all think my diet and workouts are down. Thanks for reading this entire thing...you guys are awesome.

hi and welcome to the boards!

i don't think AS is the answer, there really are no magic pills and it sounds like you're making fantastic progress... post the whats and whens (what you eat and when) of your diet and you'll get some better feedback...

oh, and with thyroid problems, you may be better off staying away from the fatburners all together... check with a doctor (which i am not :) )

Sounds to me like you are already pretty educated in what to eat and what to do to get in shape. Just keep doing what you're doing and you should lower that body fat % in no time. I would stay away from AS - for a while at least - and especially if you have a thyroid problem.

Hi musclechica,

I agree with Phemomena about seeing a doctor, and you know, there are a few on this board that can help you (I'm not one of them either... :) ). But you know, not every doctor can help you or know what they are talking about concerning steroids (I went to see 3 doctors before one of them knew the answers to my questions...).

But if you get the OK of you doc, there's always winny and anavar who are good to try... Like I said before, I don't feel comfortable talking about things that I never experienced, so the only things that I can talk to you about is the winny and anavar (and for me it did miracles!!!).

I never went to the gym, was eating what ever I wanted... I wasn't fat, I was just one of those girls who are slim but with no firmness (no muscles at ALL!). And I gained 18 pounds of muscle with the winny and the anavar that I'm taking right now.

So if you have any questions about the things that I experienced, I'm there for you. :)

hi and welcome:) Give it more time....it takes time to restore what you have lost!! Be patient and consistent and you will get there..it wont be easy etc but you are on the right track..keep eating clean and make sure you get plenty of calories!!! Lift heavy..and dont go overboard on the cardio. Congrats on making the change in your life!!! Take it one day at a time and set reasonable goals for yourself. Most of us on this board have had eating disorders..so we can relate....Keep pumping the iron...you are young:)

Welcome Chica!

I'll agree with the above -- especially at your age you will get a lot of great results from just establishing those excellent habits and working the iron. Even if you've been lifting for a while, you can always learn more. If you are stuck at a plateau, try some different lifting splits or try changing around your cardio - e.g. if you do 60 min sessions of slow & hard, try shorter sessions of interval cardio - like sprints / walks on the tread mill. Once you master a particular form (e.g. good seated cable rows) then its really easy to translate those motions to another exercise - e.g. hammer strength rowing machine, bent over row, etc. This allows you to vary your training to focus on different parts as well as just keep it more interesting. You can also learn different styles of dieting as well - e.g. carb cycling, etc. The frustrating thing about fitness is that nothing provides immediate changes, but at the same time it means you can spend many years perfecting the natural stuff to optimize it for what works for you and never even touch the chemicals. The "logical next step" does not have to be jumping into AS after having lifted for a short period of time.

Just some suggestions... as they say, "Its the journey, not the destination...."

WELCOME!!!!

YOUR'RE DIET SOUNDS GOOD...BUT IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN....EXTREMELY LOW CARB DIETS CAN SOMEWHAT SUPPRESS THYROID OUTPUT AFTER EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. HOW LOW IS YOUR CARB INTAKE? HOW LONG HAVE U BEEN LOW CARBING? ARE YOU ABLE TO TRAIN ANY MORE DAYS PER WEEK? FOUR DAYS....POSSIBLY FIVE MIGHT BE A TAD BETTER THAN THREE...FOR MUSCLE GAINS IN MY OPINION...BUT IT DEFINITELY SOUNDS LIKE YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK!!! STAY MOTIVATED!!

Welcome!

Congratulations on trading anorexia for muscle. It's a great way to live. I wasted 20 years fighting eating disorders before I was saved by the weights, so the fact you're doing this at 18 is fantastic!

The gains you're looking for are possible w/o AS no matter what your age, but youth will bring your gains a lot faster. Your current program sounds good. Just building some muscle will help with your metabolism.

Food is the most anabolic substance there is. I know it's tempting to want to hurry things along by adding more into the mix, but for some things, like your body, it's better to let it grow and adapt gradually. Just like having a baby takes 9 months, you can't take 9 women and make a baby in 1 month.

As your muscles are growing and getting stronger, so are your bones and tendons. Also, your hormones are probably in great flux from the anorexia, so adding more to the mix right now is not advisable. Give it some time and keep challenging yourself in your training. Then on down the road if you do decide to do AS, you'll have a solid foundation on which to build.
