Okay, I need to fill my diet buffer with extra calories. I feel that 0.8 grams of protein per pound is enough, but I take in about 1.3 or more because I have an extra protein shake and a can of tuna daily just to fill my caloric buffer past my maintenance level+500. What I want to know is, if your muscles don't need any more, do these calories get wasted? Is this a bad idea to use extra protein to pass your caloric level daily, or is it still calories regardless?
I don't want to put on too much weight, so I figured I'd eat moderate carbs in the AM, and fats throughout the day, with protein high so I can get a lot of calories from the excess...
