Elbow holding back the Horshoe Tri's

Alright. A joint in my elbow needs to be sewn back in place, but my doctor recommended i wait until im in my 30s. Im pretty sure its not a lifting injury, but i cant trace it back to when it started. It constantly makes very loud cracking noises when i do certain exercises--ESP triceps exercises.

Nosebreakers hurt it the most....i cant come close enough to my face, but Im allowed enough movement that the tri is somewhat stimulated. My elbow also effects the DB Overhead Tricep Press....should i rule these exercises out completely and look for alternatives?? Should I use them sparingly? Or should I do them consistently and listen to my elbow make these God awful noises...although the pain isnt that bad at all....

I can't answer that unless you post an Xray or MRI
of your elbow. And then I still couldn't answer it.
Take a dumbell in when you see your doc,
show him the movements, and ask his(her) opinion.
I don't think you should listen to advice
from people who don't even know
what kind of injury you have.

Of course the doc is just going to
say, "Does it hurt? Then don't do it!"

Oh, and - if it hurts, don't do it.

overhead dbells:

look at the position your elbows are in. they are bowing out correct? shearing forces on your elbows and not straight extension. more like a scissor jack. want to fix it?

2 dbells. keep your wrists just like you do for a hammer curl. neutral wrist. move in a straight line, just like your elbow is supposed to. you shouldnt see a problem now. give it a shot.

skull crushers...same, dbells.

the more natural you can make your elbow extension the less strain you put on your wrists and elbow.

even rope pressdowns are restrictive due to the fact that the rope is too short.

just some ideas.

Try what bignate is saying, I had a simular problem
with pain in my elbow and the pain is pretty much
gone now.

My left elbow crackles all the time. Has been hurting for a while. When I warm up it feels like the smaller bone that runs from my elbow to my wrist is dis-located. Feels like it is just floating.

Keep working man...my tri's are decent size.

could be that the ligament that holds the ulna to the radius is getting worn. hence the floating feeling. do you do alot of supinated grip stuff with your left hand. like deadlift with an over/under grip?

just wondering.

I dead every 3rd week. My left hand is always palm away from my body.

If there is no pain most probably no injury. U have scar tissue my friend. That famous snap crackle pop noise is not the breakfast cereal anymore. Try ART - active release technique to smoothen out the scar tissue. Your range of motion may be limited because scar tissue isn't as flexible as tendons so it jams. Stretch often and always warm up. The area may be close to 100% but always in danger of being injured again if not rehabilitated properly. Time is not always the answer!!! Just remember one thing...pain...STOP....no pain..push a little further but with caution. Good luck.

Thanks for the insight guys--to the first guy, sorry but i dont have a copy of the X-Ray they took...actually doing nosebreakers with dumbells is a lot easier on my elbows than using the EZ curl bar, anyone have any idea why? As for overhead DB tricep press, i think the more I let my elbows flare to the side, the easier it is on my elbows, but it doesnt seem like im isolating my tri as much as when i try to keep my elbows in.....i was always sketchy on which is the correct movement for that exercise anyway, maybe someone can clear that up for me too.
