Elbow holding back the Horshoe Tri's

take your arm hold it out infront of you, hand perpendicular to the floor. now bend your elbow up and down. thats the ideal motion for the tricep to bend the joint. (not saying right in front of you, could be overhead or down, but the motion is what im getting at) you pronate or supinate the grip you are rotating the bones over each other in the forearm. moving your hands in or out while bending and you put shearing forces on your elbows.

for overhead dbells, keep in mind that you cant move your arm the same way you can in skullcrusher and pressdowns due to flexibility, but move the JOINT the same way and youll be fine. thats why flaring your elbows feels a bit better. only problem with that is your 2 tricep movements are working against each other as you try to keep your hands together on the dbell. switch it to a single arm dbell and watch how the motion will change as you move your elbow joint correctly, you will go from behind your head to almost extending out. its weird but its do to shoulder rotation.

hope that helps.
