Does the sweet tooth go away after awhile?

I've heard from some people that after they've been on a super clean diet for months, without cheating, that their sweeth tooth really dies down, and they arent tempted by foods nearly as much as they were beforehand.

Is this true? I havent really tried going completely without sugar for a long time.

But if it did work, that would be phenomenal. I would just move out into the boonies for a month or so (and take only healthy food with me), and then move back, and be a new man.

Sure you can lose a craving for it. And when you eat it again, doesn't really hit the spot or is as satisfying as you remember.

Generally with a decent balanced diet (and my that I mean normal healthy eating routine) you should not be having these cravings, and your cheat/reward day or meal should be satisfying enough.

When you fall off the wagon your body lets you know why you shouldn't do that by wonderful bloating & water retention :)

okay, so does the craving permanently go away then?

and what if i wasnt having a cheat meal or anything like that? like if my diet was just 100% clean?

I cannot tell you that, there is no way for me to possible know, or anyone for that matter. You may lose taste for certain things, then thay may come back with a vengence, maybe never at all. That's completely subjective and somethign you need to figure out for yourself.

Re your 2nd questions Id say when you did cheat or over do it your body would most likely respond in an extremely unfavorable manner.

IMO, I would not deprive your body of things you like, everything in moderation. As long as you train & eat healthy 80-90% of the time, chances are your body wont know the difference and rip through the cals (given you aren't depriving it where it reacts like WTF is all this crap Im not used to, then decide to go into protection mode until the smoke clears) ...

I am assuming you are a regular indivdual trying to lead a healthy lifestyle, not a competitor

When I stop sweets, I never crave them. When I start up, I'm in trouble!
But yeah it takes a couple of weeks and the thought of sweets will be unappealing.....well at least for me that's how it works.

The craving for me has died down alot i rarely want to eat anything that would be classed unhealthy and when i do i sometimes feel shitty as Bunny said over bloated etc. I used to want to eat takeout etc a fair amount last time i had a chinese was a few months ago ended up in bed feeling like crap after eating it.

that is correct. the reason why ive thought of the idea of depriving of sweets entirely is because i think that may be an easier diet for me to stick to. cuz every time i have a cheat day its tempting to let that spill over into the next day.

but then again eventually most people return to sweets though after awhile.

Im wondering if its possible for someone to stay off of them forever. maybe the craving mechanism would just eventually shut off and stop bothering the person.

I understand what you mean however I do believe the physcial craving may also be triggered my mental cravings. You deprive yourself of something so sometimes that makes you wantit more. You have to turn off that switch in your brain. I know several people that don't eat sweets b/c they really don't like them. Some have never touched a sweet in his/her life since childhood.
