does red meat stay in your gut for weeks?

this one girl told me that her and her man are cutting down on red meat because it stays in your guts for weeks.

ive heard the same thing about the kinds of cherries they use in bars

but this is from a girl who doesnt diet or exercise
so i thought i would ask you guys

i think she should give up high glycemic carbohydrates first

but thats just me

does anyone know about this?

beef is the king of all protein for bulking purposes imo. next to beef is buffalo again imo

i dont think anything stays in your gut for weeks. Stomach acid with the ph of 3, it can make a spoon dissolve

right!

HCl is tough stuff

but ive heard of kids eating coins and shitting them out
is that true?
that can't be true if a spoon wont make it through..

this girl also said something about high cholesterol
i thought choleSTEROL was a steroid hormone that our body uses to make testosterone and others

does intake of dietary cholesterol really determine blood cholesterol?
i dont know if cholesterol in my blood has anything to do with blood pressure..
but i eat eggs, whole milk, beef.. every day.
and my bp is always 122-127 over 72-78

she's confusing me a bit
but she is fat and weak, so.. i dunno

anyone know about how healthy/unhealthy red meat, cholesterol is?

Dietary intake is the single most important factor in determining blood cholesterol levels. However, there is also a substantial genetic component. There is bad cholesterol (LDL) but HDL, the good kind, actually helps sop up and remove lipids. The balance between these two is a good assessment of your risk for heart disease.

And BTW there is no possible way for and large portion of red meat to stay in your stomach, and although I haven't researched the fact at all, I could see red meat staying in your large intestines for an extended time when compared to other foods but still no where near a week.

The answer is no. If you gorge yourself, it will not all digest fully, but it will pass through. Its an old myth. Go watch Food Detectives on Food TV, they dismiss quite a lot of stuff like this.

If you are eating a lot of whole grains and veggies with a high fiber content like you should, your colon will be clean as a whistle.

And to answer the original question, meat won't stay in your gut for weeks. Unless your body mystically holds on to cow beef for a longer time than every other food. Your colon doesn't say: "oh, well here's red meat, I gotta hold onto this." It just digests whatever comes through. Some things faster or slower than others, but nothing stays in there for weeks.

Same reason these "colon cleanse" schemes are a big scam.
