Nice deads. I always found high reppers to be
a real bitch, myself...especially when dealing
with very heavy compound moves (BB rows,
deadlifts, squats, leg presses).
Even one of my favorites, dips, get really bizarrely intense
as you approach White Buffalo territory...say you
weigh about what I do, an entirely too fat 223 w/
a 35" waist. I could probably do about 35 reps with my bodyweight since I've done 90 lbs. for a handful of paused,
VERY slow negative reps. (KIM, I've only done one mass
cycle, okay?

LOL.) Doing 10 reps is a warm-up.
Anyhow, assume I strap 25 lbs. around my waist and
shoot for somewhere around 20 reps. The last
few would be next to impossible nearing lockout.
And once I failed, trying to do a negative would be
a total waste of energy...I'd just fucking DROP.
That, to me, defines an effective exercise. When you
reach positive failure, you're so exhausted that attempting
a negative would just see the weight smashing right
back down.
Anyhow, are you doing the deads regular or SL? At
my best, I was able to SLDL 340 for about 5, pausing
at mid-shin level for two seconds/rep

Not all that
great, but I was proud of it at the time, especially
considering that I'd only done that exercise for about
two months.
