Carbs at night

A new diet plan now has me eating 5 meals instead of 8-11. It's easier for me as a 17 year old to deal with my life, hang out with the girlfriend, and just enjoy myself, so I split up the meals into 4 hour intervals, basically.

Anyway, is it okay if I eat carbs at night? My workout is between 2-3 PM. 3 PM is my post-workout shake. At 4 PM is my next meal, with 5 oz. london broil, 1 cup oats (or 1/2 cup barley), 2 tbsp ground up flax seeds, some lettuce, and maybe a tbsp of olive oil.

So, my next two meals are at 8 PM and 11 PM. I go to bed by midnight usually. Would it add on that much fat, or would I be safe to do this? It's just easy to make all my meals balanced, so they all have the same amount of oatmeal. 1 cup, which is 2 servings.

IMHO the "no carbs at night" is overrated

You won't be eating for about 8 hours, so the carbs will be used rather than stored as fat (if taken in moderate proportion)

Depends on what your goals are...bulking or cutting. I'd say some complex carbs before bed is a good idea if bulking. I'd drop carbs from your 11pm meal if you're cutting and most concerned about being ripped.

I would not eat carbs 4 hours before bed and for gods sake dont eat high carb high fat meals in combination

If you workout in the evening you want to have some carbs before bed

Another blanket statement that's junk. I train at 6pm and am in bed by 10.....I have carbs all the way up to shut-eye and sometimes even after I snooze off for an hour...........nothing wrong with it, just keep it to a minimium..........

yes training late would be the only exception to the carb rule. We all know your body has a window of about 3 hours post training when it is very receptive to carbs.

But do you eat carbs all throughout the day as well?
