breakfast question...

For brk I got really sick of eggs so i've been eating 1/4 c. quick oats and 1/2 c. water......w/splenda and cinn. and to get my protein in...a whey shake. Now my question is, the choc. mint is sorta gross in the morning, so i opt for my vanilla flavored ...but I like 1 tbs. of pnt btr to flavor it. Is that ok to eat w/ the oatmeal or should i not mix the fat and carb together like that?
The only other thing i can think of to flavor the shake would be fruit...but i feel like fruit is serious taboo, as i'm trying to lose and keep my insulin levels down.
Pleez help! THanx! :qt:

You could also treat breakfast like any other meal and not neccessarily eat a breakfast "feeling" food. You could eat last night's leftovers for example.

:)

sometimes I do and sometimes it just sounds "sick"!
Is it ok to add a tbs or so of pnt btr to my whey shake, or should it be strictly protein and no fat???
Geez, i do love peanut butter! :) If I had to cut it, i'd reallllllly be in trouble!

I eat my oatmeal with protein powder and either natural peanut butter, some peanuts, or almonds.

I thought you weren't "supposed to" have carbs & fats together?? Is this wrong or............

I've heard that too, but I can't keep up with all those rules. For the most part, I try to get a balance of protein, carbs and fats (healthy fats) in each meal. However, after very intense training, my first meal will be a protein shake w/ some higher glycemic carbs, but no fats. I think maybe it's something about the fats slowing down the insulin response, and that's a time you want a high insulin response, for faster nutrient absorbsion. But as fat as never having carbs and fats together, I'm not really sure.
