Bodybuilders Are Stronger Than Powerlifters!

You guys have to realize that Alex probably gets paid to post crap like this in order to generate more posts to the board. That's why he always makes some inflammatory comment followed by "come on, I want to hear everyone's opinion".

In this particular post he's mixing up total work done, with strength.

Lets say a 200lb bodybuilder and a 200lb powerlifter go to the gym and they both decide to do a Farmer's Walk contest. The BBer does 20 steps with 120lb dumbbells, the Powerlifter does 20 with 180lb dumbbells. According to his flawed logic, the stronger man is the one with the longer walk home.

Ya know in all fair ness to the Bodybuilders i know, and i know alot. They dont even care who is stronger. Maybe amongst themselves, but not to powerlifters. I know some powerlifters with pretty big physiques and we dont sit around and wonder how nice we would look if we decided to do a BB show. It really is apples and oranges.

Ok. Stronger muscle can get more work done. After all you dont expect a 98 pounder kid next door be able to go through blood and guts ??? right?

According to that fuzzy math of yours that you have posted you are makeing a mistake after mistake. 180 at 20 is more work than 120 at 20 steps. So no according to those numbers that particular powerlifter is doing more work. Read my post again, do the math. it will come to you, dont worry.

Hands down, powerlifters are stronger than bodybuilders. Nothing more to say.

ZBecasue they hgenerally do few reps and more weight?\Sometimes doing heavy weight at lots of reps can be even tougher. AND more total work done.

Sure 900 pound squat can be tough, but try to do 20 reps at 600. Guess what , youll probably die unless you are champion bodybiuilder/powerlifgter/athlete. Paramedics will be called for sure to suparate your quads from the walls!

Now I am not aware of anyone doing 600 pounds for 20 reps. But I am sure they probably would not want to remember that night at the hospital. But really bodybuilders work can be just as demanding AND TOUGHER!

Squatting or lifting 1 rep max can be hard, YES. But doing heavy weoight for lots of reps can be just as hard!

In the end, who really gives a rat's ass. You post all these theories that in reality, have no value as a training tool or aid. Do you actually know anything about building muscle? Start to show that you have some applicable knowlege, or better yet, have the balls to post a pic showing us what all your valuable knowlege has geained for you!!

Did you read the last sentence of my post? My god.

Oh my god, this is truely absurd :eek2:

This discussion was not about how who was the toughest, but the strongest.

You want toughness, go train with Louie Simmons and his lifters then.

And NO! You can't both do heavy weights and lots reps at the same time.

btw. squats are not only a quads excercise. They are an complete lowerbody exercise.
