Well the International Nova Strength Association had their World's this Saturday, and Vulgar Display of Power went down to Dallas to compete in this competition.

He did quite well, and went 2 for 3 in squats, 2 for 2 in bench passing his third after hurting his shoulder in a successful 2nd attempt bench. He went 2 for 3 in deadlifts as well including a strong 551 deadlift on his second.

I believe that he totalled 1400 or thereabouts and did very well at this competition. Showed a lot of class and guts in this meet. He was screwed, in my opinion on his second attempt squat because we did not get him up to the platform fast enough, and pissed off the judges. So I think they were planning on reds before he even took the weight for what looked like a good, deep ride on his second attempt.

Met some really cool people while on the trip, including VDOP's wife, who is a very nice lady, and also met Po3t1c, and his girlfriend and got to talk to Jim Voronin, who is a very large, impressively statured individual, who is also a very nice, and approachable man.

Also got to see a 562 bench by a 215 lber, and got to see Randal Harris do some incredible lifting as well.

VDOP and his wife invited me out after the meet and were nice enough to invite me along, but I was suffering from illness and had to decline thier gracious invitation.

I mainly want to congratulate VDOP on his fine lifting. He set a tested 220 men's deadlift record, and posted a fine total. We also were able to pick out a weak point in his squat, which when fixed should allow him to squat more weight than he is now cabable of. I expect really big numbers from VDOP, he has already posted a fine total and shows strong signs of being able to greatly improve that total.

Thanks for the rundown Bench..

Here's my two cents worth of the weekend in a nutshell...

My training hasnt been worth a damn for the last 4-6 months, so I am pretty pleased with the results. It gave me some needed confidence, and showed me where I need to go from here.

Sq-Everything felt alright here. The progressive resistance program I was on for the lat 4mos was absolutely worthless! Its back to true blue westside for me from here on out. Dont know what happened on the second attempt, but they must have had a good reason for the reds. Benchmonster figured out that lack of ab strength is what is holding my Sq back. Get that fixed and the numbers ought to go upward. Thanks to Hannibal for pointing out that aI need to maintain my lean through the whole motion-I havent had balance or tipping problems at all since.

Bench-Shoulder has been F'd since we all did the Eaufala meet last July. Havent benched in the last 2 or so months, just done extensions, back and rotator work,-fought through my second bench attempt, and soon after decided to scratch my third, shoulder wasnt hurting bad, just irritated. Feels better as of Sunday night, and I plan on (slowly) working back into speed and Me days again.---Found out that with just extension and back work, I came within 30lbs of my best prior bench-Maye theres a lesson in there that will push my bench up more.

DL-was pretty pleased with this. First two attempts actually felt light and fast. For some reason I made the mistake of putting on my old DL suit for my third attempt. I set up, inhaled, went to sq down and couldnt reach the damn bar. I panicked, and basically just bent down and did a freakin romanian/stiff leg deadlift. It felt like it went up fast, but ended at about mid thigh. I was so far out of the groove at that point it was hopeless. No more suit for DL from now on.

All in all I was pretty pleased with the meet. Got to see some badass pullers in the pro 220lb class. Randall Harris pulled 800 something,!--Damn that alot of freakin plates.

I want to give a BIG BIG thanks to Benchmonster for traveling to big D and handling me. Your a true friend and I appreciate you pushing me. Hope I didnt dissapoint you by sandbagging out on my third bench attempt! By the way-you missed out on a hell of a good time at the club-The beer was cold and the women were way hot!--I'll have to give you details later!

Looking forward to APF meet next month!

VDOP,

No problem bro. I was glad and honored to help. You did a good job and I was happy I could be of some help. And there is no shame in passing an attempt when you are hurt. Smart move on that one.

Congrats VDOP!!!

Sounds like you had a great meet. What were your numbers? A 551 on deadlift is great. Are you gonna do the meet in Tulsa on the 23rd?

Great meet VDOP. I would have liked to have been there to see it in person but there will be a next time. We're proud of you and I look forward to training with you soon.

i want to say congrats. it was awesome meeting benchmonster. he's one thick mofo. i saw vdops last squat and he definately looked good to me. too bad i couldnt stay around. i would have loved to watch the entire meet. gf had work :(. anyways, it's always a fun experience and it always makes me feel really small to show up where the avg. guy is at least twice my size.
