any of you pinched a back nerve before?

I pinched a nerve in my lower back about a month ago and it still hurts like hell. I think I did it running on pavement. I haven't been able to hit the gym cause I am waiting for it to get better but I have not had a pinched nerve for this long before. Have any of you had this happen before? It is the kind where you can feel a little pain shoot down one of your legs and most of the pain seems to be located in the deep buttock area. I dont really have the money to go to a chiroprator and I dont have insurance so I am limited in my options. Just wondering if any of you have had this problem and how long it took to go away.

I have had a pinched nerve in my back while I was still in high school, and let me tell it wasn't fun. I couldn't turn my neck at all for a couple of weeks without turning my whole body. it had eventually went away. I would just refrain from any movement that would require you to move your injured area of your back. try to put heat packs on the area and stretch to lessen the pain for 15-20 minutes at a time.

Inflammed Sciatic Nerve

I believe you have an inflammed sciatic nerve. The nerve is located in the lower back and can affect the lower extremities when irritated. I suffered a similar problem a few summers back when I played basketball daily on outdoor hard courts. The constant pounding and jarring really took it's toll. The sensation is kind of a burning, itchy feeling - very annoying. Anti- inflammatories are your best bet along with rest. Try to take it easy and, once healed, try running on a more forgiving surface. (i.e. dirt, grass, running track) Footware may also need to be addressed.

Thanks for the info guys. I dont plan on running on pavement anymore, that is for sure. At first I was getting major shin pain from it, then the back problem- I just woke up one day and it hurt real bad so I can't pinpoint exactly what did it. I never had any problems running on dirt surfaces. The pain seems to be somewhat subsiding but I am not sure if I am just used to it or what. It is definately very annoying. I haven't even been in the mood for sex in awhile cause it is so distracting having constant pain like this. I will try the anti-inflammitory thing and see if that helps. I just hope it goes away soon, I miss working out.:(

I pinched a nerve in my back close to my traps. It took about 3 wks to go away. But a Chiropractor is always help recovery. And run on a good treadmill hellva lot better than pavement.

ARGGHHH, I need pain killers!!!! This shit hurts like hell! A full month of this has me wanting to freak out! I hear that Sciatica can last up to 12 weeks!! It better heal soon cause I cant workout until it does. I hope none of you guys get this, it sucks BIG TIME!!
