Worked my arse off last night......

Just wanted everyone to know, last night on leg night, I worked my heiny good. I feel the "good" pain today. For the last 4 weeks, after working out for nearly 2 years, I finally heeded the advice from this board, and have been doing squats---without the Smithmachine. Lordy be.....that works you soooo good. My outer thigh aches.....my inner thigh....and my good old heiny. I also went my heaviest on the sled.....put seven 45 pds. on each side.....pushed out about 5 of those puppies. Good old legworkout last night. And once again a big old Kudos to the advice handed out on this board :) Now I will try and ease myself up out of this chair.....ouch
 
14*45 = 630 not bad at all... (i'm afraid to go over 450, i tend to have to hold my knees straight and feel weird skin pulling in my ab area, so i stay under 5 plates a side generally... doing single legs only on leg press as of late... if you want a glute blaster, do those leg presses one leg at atime.. owwwie)

good work on getting away from that smith machine and taking it like a man hehe :)

i'll be squating tonite, wish me luck... :D
 
You know Phem, those squats are like an entire leg workout in one. I am trying to walk around today, and am so stiff :) But its a gooooood stiffness. Good Luck tonight --- I eat really well about two hours before legs----that is such a big body part to do, and I need all the energy I can muster for that night. Happy Pumping:D
 
i always say, squats are an all over body exercise, not just a leg workout... if you do nothing but squats, your chest will grow (HEAR THAT SPATTS? :D) nothing compared to bench or whatever but there will be all over muscle growth from squats...

they're probably one of the best midsection strenghtening exercises around too...
 
Oh no....this thread is going down :) Still not sure of the nubbin word ---- but am so glad I can come on this board and learn new things everyday :) Hey...think I can use nubbin in a sentence---- "If you do winny, you will have a nubbin growing in your pants". Was that good???:mix:

squats mofo rock!

What weight do you use on the squat rack? I use a blet for squats. I can do 25lbs on each side quite easily all the way down. I usually move to a plate with proper form. Any more weight and I don't go all the way down, just to 90 degrees.

For the leg press, I have done 8 plates on each side, with the use of straps around my knees. Have you ever tried them? You wrap them up real tight just before and you gotta take them off immediatly after. It's funny you can hardly bend your legs, look like frankenstein.
 
Never tried the leg wrap Triple V, but have seen people using them. Can you tell me, exactly why u use them? I figured people just had old injuries??? Eight plates on the press??? Wow---good work there !!! I put a 45 plate on each side for the squats, and have my hubby spot me...dont want to go splat on the ground:D He kind of likes spotting on that one!!
 
While lying in the tanning bed this afternoon, I was thinking of the leg wrap question I asked earlier TripleV, and figured you use them so you dont lock your legs out??? If so, then I do indeedy need to invest in some of those babies :) Am I wrong??
 
that too..

but i use it for 2 other reasons:

First, to protect me knees - tendons.

Second, to "bouce you back". The wraps are really elastic and it sort of bounces you back.

Overall, your knees won't give out. Sometimes when you're tired, your knees buckle up. This gives you more control on your knees and legs for press and squats.

I would recommend you try it really. I sit on a bench right before I do them. Start wrapping below the knee to just above the knee, lower thigh, and tuck the end under. You gotta go quick because you will start to lose sensation sort of.

Then when you're done your set, take them off. ANd repeat.

But let me tell you, it REALLY helps push you further!
