Woke 2AM HUNGREY

I woke up last night at 2:00 in the morning hungrey. I haven't had this happen in awhile since I've read the thread regarding eating cottage cheese & some fat before bed time. I did exactly that and still woke up. Well, I had a small amount of protien powder in some soymilk, can't do dairy, (Soymilk 60 Cal. 1 Gram fat, 2 carb per 8 oz. serving, JFYI) and a teaspoon of PB. Good idea, bad idea? Please give your input thanks again. I'm still a work in progress. I get my bodyfat done on Monday and then I'll give you the run down of my training, in hopes of some ideas. Thank you for your encouragement. I'm really glad I joined this forum, it's great to be a part of positive support. :qt:

Glad you joined too :wavey:

No worries you'll get some great advice soon...

If you are only sort of hungry when you wake up, have some water. If you're raving starving, then eat. What you did is OK.

Hi Bunny! Thanks! Shadow, I thought I blew it by doing that. I was hungrey and knew I was going to do a HIIT in the a.m. so I feed my face. Thank you for responding.

If you are hungry, you are hungry. If it is making it so you can't sleep comfortably, then you are sacrificing the quality of your recovery time. Of the two, I think good sleep is more important than a couple extra calories. I mean what's the worst thing you do? Spend an extra 5-10 min doing cardio to compensate for it?

The thing w/ dieting is that you need to be comfortable with it, make it a complementary part of your lifestyle and also be able to respond to your body's needs when there is a demand "outside" your eating schedule. If you get all worried about whether or not you should eat, then you need to develop an understanding of the boundaries of what your options are, the "risks" and "benefits" and what will keep you from either being totally miserable and still exactly right on your eating schedule or deal w/ the hunger, no more / no less, and get on with your life.

:)

The only time you really start sweating questions like this is if you are on a tight competition schedule. Even then, I still think the quality of your sleep is substantially more important than satiating a painful hunger at 2 am. For AM cardio, you have already exceeded the 2-3 hour interval to achieve "empty stomach" status -- shit, you are still going another *5* hrs if you do cardio at 7 am. So, I think you can survive....
