The reason why "everyone says they make 6 figures" is those people are the ones who are proud of their income, and rightly so, so they post about it. Not that everyone who makes that much does post it, but I'm sure a lot of people who do make it, have posted it in some kind of fashion. Why not.

I've never understood the whole "OMG don't mention your salary!" thing. No big deal, especially if it pertains to the subjexct at hand. "Hey I'm getting s raise! It's 7.865% above the 3.115% I got last year, omg so that makes it 75th percentile of my company, which means I'm making 'average + XX' I'm so happy!"

WTF? I just got a raise from 55k to 63k woohoo! what's the big deal?

Unless someone is complaining about how 'low' their income is, why would people come out and just state their income unless it was high(er)? That is my point in the post above.

soft. it's 13 hard.

but in all honestly mine is jusy shy of 7 (hard). very normal, slightly above average size. nothing to brag about, but plenty to have confidence.

I guess some guys seem so open about it like they are flaunting it. My pay may seem low, but you have to factor the cost of living in WV. We have the lowest housing costs in the nation. My utilities aren't bad. My $100 cable bill is my highest utility. I could get rid of that if I wanted to.
I guess the only thing that I would desire more money for would be to travel more often. That's the one thing I'm missing that I can't afford. I'd like to see a bit of the rest of the world.
