how did you get into it...how did you start doing it?

primarily interested in bikini, fitness, figure...though bodybuilding welcome to tell me too :)

Im considering this as a long term goal and don't have a clue how anyone gets started in it

also..I noticed that all of them around here have a polygraph?? is that for anabolics?

I you at competing in a natural organization then yes the polygraph is to check if you have taken any band substances. Its cheaper to check like that than a urine test for everyone.

I have competed my first two shows were figure. I started as a goal to get lean. You pick a show and start basically it's probably a good idea to pick a show that has another contest coming up 4 weeks or later just in case you aren't ready in time.

hmmm...seems like the only ones here are "natural" ..or maybe thats just what I found in a cursory look around

Pretty sure most girls competeing in anything other than bikini arent 'natural'. Just way to hard to train that hard for that long without some kind of help.

idk...my test levels naturally are close to a low dose anavar run...and I know I'm not the only one

it seems like the leap from figure to bodybuilding would be about impossible w/o anabolics tho

Im not an expert by anymeans and havent competed but do know that its probably damn near impossible to compete in bodybuilding without anabolic help

The look they want now for figure if you had decent genetics you could do it without anabolics IMO

I know some figure girls who's cycles were stronger than mine when I did bodybuilding. I never really changed my cycle much from bodybuilding to figure. I basically dieted longer and did more cardio.

The NPC and IFBB brought on Woman's Physique last year witch is suppose to be like classic bodybuilding. This is a push for less drugs as the current state of FBB has gone way to extreme. I think for physique given decent genetics and good base of years dieting and training you could do it with minimal to light cycle.

If you are doing bikini and you have to do anabolics you for sure are lacking in knowledge for dieting and training bikini should always be a natural event.

I'd agree with QT. The figure look, now, vs what it was a few years ago is not necessarily needing aas help. It all depends on what org you're looking at too. The natty movement where I live is really taking off and there are a lot of women who compete without any help and look really good. That being said, I've been to a few natty shows where it felt more like a beauty pageant. Imo, it depends a lot on how long you have trained to build up your muscle mass and how good your prep was. Genetics kick in somewhere too.

I started a lot like QT. I wanted to get leaner and wanted to see if I could do it. It almost seemed like a rite of passage at the gym I was in and I wanted to see if I had what it took to get on stage. It was a challenge to myself.

I'm looking at physique for this fall. The org I compete in is untested and I, too, feel like women's bb has gotten a little bit crazy in terms of how much you need to use to be competative. I'm not willing to run the heavier cycles and I don't want "that look" but at the same time, I will most likely be too big for figure, so I'm stuck in the middle somewhere.

You basically have to plan it backwards. Choose a show date and then start counting weeks back. Depending on the category, will depend on how lean you want to be and how many weeks prep to give yourself.

Competing is an amazing experience but also can be all consuming. I had hoped for June but have had too much personal stress and just haven't been able to commit to the prep time. The good thing is that the stage is always there!!

From what I have seen in bikini here the girls are lean but don't have super ripped abs or anything nice butt very often faux boobs. Also they are younger at least the ones that win seem to be under 25 even in the pro division Nicole Nagrani won the Olympia bikini this year she is only 19.
