if he gets another ID - that doesn't somehow wipe clean the fact that they took his ID - in fact, when he goes to get a new one, they will see that on his record and likey not give him a new one.

unless you mean a fake so that he can drink - in that case, still not the best call.
is it illegal to use a fake id to get booze, even if you are plenty old enough to drink?
if so, that could provide for some funny evenings at the bar.
especially if you are wearing a gorilla costume, and so is the guy on the id.
