The effect of muscle fiber type on increasing muscle size

I was just trying to figure out amounts of reps and sets for my new workout and I remembered this thread..

I did most of my new routine and the results are very similar... legs are pretty much slow twitch, biceps are fast twitch b, tri's are fast twitch a, lateral raises - fast twitch b, lying flies fast twitch a..

Very interesting!!

Are you still training according to this Rotten Willow? If so, how's it going?

Yes absolutely, and I've continued to make better gains than I have in years. Just make sure your rep range and rep speed continues to be consistent with your testing results.

This is my first post :) and I just had to chime in and say that this makes more sense than most training plans I have seen, we are not all cookie cutter shapes and we need to tailor our training to meet our own personal needs. I have been using HST methods and this explains why I hate 15s so much LOL. I was a sprinter in school and had massive muscular legs and glutes (which at the time I didn't appreciate) and have been lifting for a couple of years to get those glorious muscles back......now I know exactly how to go about rebuilding them...thanks so much!

I maintained an HST journal here years ago. I think like you I had inconsistent responses to it. It does employ the same methodology for the entire body, irrespective of muscle fiber type preponderance in different muscle groups.

In my case, my upper body is finally beginning to catch up with my lower body in terms of muscularity. I'm 28 now and have been training consistently for 8 years now and only during the last 6 months or so have I seen real, sustained progress in upper body gains.
