Targeted Ketogenic Diet ????????

I agree with Nelson on this one. Little doubt Keto works but at what price. Places your body under so much stress. I just feel there are much better ways to go about it and especially so for athletes.

I ran 2 CKD cycles, with carb up days on weekends and felt good, got good results to.

Now I just carb cycle and eat my carbs early and cut carbs out later in the day.

I wouldnt suggest CKD or TKD for long term, but I think a couple of weeks of CKD isnt HORRIBLE. It just depends on your goals.

Gear always makes the body work more efficiently, but that should never be an excuse for a bad practice.

I know you had to use more than that to convince Tat. Studies? Research?

First of all studies just show one result -- usually the one the researchers are trying to find. And just because such a study appeared elsewhere -- why does that make it more valid? There's tons of misinformation.

I maintain my points and they are facts. Ketosis is very unhealthy and there are millions of examples of losing fat without going into ketosis, so what else do you need?

Tat has been around long enough to know how this stuff works but she's still curious and experimenting and searching and looking to get first hand experience and that's great. But the truth wins out every time. Sometimes the simple answer is the answer. But everybody wants to think some new theory that requires some arcane knowledge or excessive dedication is the answer.

I'll bet these guys never even heard of the ketogenic diet. http://www.schwarzenegger.it/mro/columbu/fc98.jpg

Here's the guy who came up with it straining to do a a 200 lb deadlift with stick arms and a pot belly.

i'm just interested in how specifially you think a keto diet is unhealthy.

i guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

i am on not on a ketonic diet year round. i feel no ill effects my blood work is normal i lose little to no muscle mass.

studies to back up why it is so bad. what r the reasons it is a bad practice? all i have heard so far is starvation & basically catabolism. neither of which i experience.

I have followed a keto diet with GREAT success....It may not work for everyone, BUT it will certainly work for those who don't respond well to carbs...and I dont, so it has worked wonders for me to keep most/all of my muscle whilst dropping the fat! I have even heard of many guys using a keto(caveman diet) to gain lean mass...again, the macros vary for both goals a far bit...so I wont go into details, especially because I havnt had any experience with gaining lean mass on keto diet, ONLY on the Anabolic diet.

Chiming in here...

When I dropped from 30% bf to 7% last time, I was on a Keto diet. In fact the only times I have ever been able to drop more than 10 pounds was on keto diets. Problem is, my body (me) loves carbs to much. I have always had lots of problems with carbs and even get energy drops with complex carbs. When I am on these Keto diets for longer than 10 days, my cravings disapear, I have more energy and I shed-not just water- but fat and lots of it. Maybe at the heart it is because of the cal in is less than cal out, but the only thing carbs gave me where energy drops and love handles.
