Soon to be gone... my big bitch tits

honestly, I think that you just always craved meat, I'm not sure why you became a vegetarian anyway, but it should be easy for a vegetarian to get the required protein...

So, you either are too lazy to analyze what foods contain protein; or, you just always want meat and quit due to that.

but yes, I'm sure you'll do better on your new diet, seeing that you won't be eating pizza, mayo on subs, and pasta and cream dishes anymore.. of course you will not do well for fat loss eating those sorts of things.

CONGRATULATIONS on getting started with this. Your stats are almost identical to mine when I started to take control of my body and diet. I was also in pretty good shape for how sedentary and fat I was (I had like a 22 inch vertical)

You're obviously going about this with intelligence so I'm sure you're gonna do great. Only thing I'd warn against is trying to restrict calories too strictly. Always led to crashing and burning for me.

For 10 solid years I did not.. I was not a part time vegetarian or halfway where I cheated once in a while. I can't speak badly of a vegetarian diet if it can work for you, but it did not for me. For sure, it was partly laziness because it is not nearly as easy to get the protein required. It also depends where you live as to the availablilty of foods, both in the grocery store and restaurants. As I moved from a city metro to a small town, it was almost impossible to eat out. If soy works for you, more power to you. No doubt, my previous diet was awful, nevermind vegetarian or not.

Hey thanks man.. means a lot. I was trying to figure out what sort of shape I'm in under the fat.. cardio isn't so bad, BP is normal, cholesterol is quite low.. and going by this:

Lean body mass: 157 lbs
add 10% body fat = 175 pounds

So if I get down to 175, preserving what I have now.. I'll be at 10% BF.. 5'9" and 175 is still pretty big, isn't it? I mean for a 'normal guy' -- not a bodybuilder. So either I have.. big heavy bones, lots of visceral fat, or some muscle under there. I am broad shouldered and long armed for my height.

My calories aren't restricted, I eat quite a bit.. just smarter. I usually don't feel like eating the last of the 2k calories.

One thing I wish people had warned me about so far... stretch more than you think you have to during and after... a little bit after and quite a lot 2-3 hours later, right?
