My wife has been yo-yo dieting for the last 6 years she's now at her wits end and has decided to take my advise and start eating a balanced diet of 5 meals a day which she has been following for the last 6 months but she is still struggling to lose the FAT.

What do you think I could do to alter her diet and make fat burning more efficient.

Stats

5 foot 6
149 pounds
33% body fat

Goal is 15% body fat

Weekly Excercise Routine

Half an hour cycling every morning on an empty stomach
Half an hour cycling every other day in the afternoon

2 x a week weight training - Squats and push
- Squats and pull

Diet

morning -- Bowl of oats and 3 egg whites & Flax table spoon
mid -------- MRP
Lunch ----- Tuna and muffin & Flax tbl
Mid -------- MRP
Supper---- Meat with viggies and rice and Flax tbl

Toatl calories 1600

She follows her routine religously and I'm scared that if she doesn't start seeing results she will resort back to her old way. We are going on holiday in december and I want to try and get her down to aleast 130 pounds if possible but any progress would be great. THANKS

Mikel

ps. readng through this post I made it sound like she has made no progress whish isn't true she has made some but not anything special. I'm not looking for a quick fix but steady progress would be great.

Is looks like you're putting her on some kind of bber's cutting diet. Why?, if your wife is only 149lbs with 33bf that means she doesn't have much lbm so she must not be working out with weights. Try atkins diet, a few of my friends have done it and swear by it. Its not only a great diet, its also a great life style to make sure you don't put the fat back on.

She is working out with weights she can squat 120 pounds for 20 reps started six months ago at 30 pounds so she is lifting weights and making good progress, she has increased her lbm by 10 pounds

I thought a bb's diet would be a better way to go, my mistake.

I'll do some research on the Atkins diet.

Thanks for the reply

Don't think she is gonna put on alot of lbm and lose alot of bs at the same time. Do one or the other, if she lost the bf first, then she can go on a clean diet to gain lbm.

Thanks for all the help

I have done some research and its not with out merit my only concern is coming off this diet once you have lost the weight can you go onto a CKD OR would it be better to slowly start adding carbs to your daily eating plan while reducing the fat to make up total daily calories

Staying on this diet indeffinetly is not an option.

Advaik at the moment she is only trying to lose excess fat she can't bulk at 33% BF (very sensitive to carbs)

The plan is to get her down to a healthy BF and then start adding LBM. Increase in LBM will make it easier to maintain her weight in the future

Again thanks any other tips would be appriceiated

Slowly adding carbs is the way to go. A typical low-carb diet (once you've reached your goal) is something to the effect of 50-120 grams of carbs/day in the form of vegetables (maybe a slice of wheat bread), 1 serving of fresh fruit, and lean meats/cheeses.

I always thought it sounded fairly balanced to me :-)
