Saturated fats

Just saw this thread. Yes you must consume saturated fats to survive. You can get away with eating a fairly large amount of them, if you keep your insulin levels in check and eat sufficent omega-3's, and to a lesser extent omega-6's. Increasing saturated fat intake can definately increases testosterone production, and reduce shbg levels, however this happens at greatly diminished returns past a certain point. Its also important to remember that if you are dificient in omega 3's, this effect will not occur. If your intake of saturated fat drops below what your body needs for at least optimal functoin, you will notice a drop in testosterone productoin, and even if you are injecting your adrogens, you will see diminished returns in muscle gains, althought they will not be as pronounced as those experienced by natural atheletes.

saturated fat dosent make testosterone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CHOLESTEROL DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your body makes all of the cholesterol it needs every day, even excess the amount. eating more fat will not cause testosterone production to increase. ok lets hear it.........and yes you do need saturated fat. however your body will still make fat even without eating it!

Socrates, I'm sorry, but you are wrong. Eating a meal with no saturated fat causes a drop in serum testosterone levels within a few hours of eating it, and diets with an abundance of saturated fat cause testosterone levels to increase rather rapidly.

Cholesterol and saturated fat go hand-in-hand btw in foods you eat. Look at the nutritional breakdown on various foods, look at the cholesterol on the label and compair it to the total amount of satured fat, and observe the trend.

I don't think anyone is saying saturated fat "makes" testosterone; the idea is that proper saturated fat intake has shown in studies to increase testosterone levels. Check 2004 Bill Engleman's study on fats and testosterone.

Your body can't just "make" fat, not to a degree that you think at least. You have fat stores that can be used for energy, but beyond that you're at a loss. Some fats, like EFAs are just essential.

i just read something interesting from UDO-yes saturated fat raises test in the blood. but perhaps its not for a good reason. perhaps the sat fat complicates the job of test to do its job. he goes onto say that n-3 and n-6 may lower test. he says this is actually a sign of better utilization of the test. so the amount you have is being used and not wasted. akso think about this- if the saturated fat is raising test and it cant all be used correctly-PERHAPS it will be aromatised! so the test is spiled into estrogen??? SAT FAT=estrogen production?

You're misunderstand the whole concept of fat. FFA can only be converted to ketones (+glycerol) via the release of glucagon which depends on low-insulin levels (low carb). All this is done in the liver which has nothing to do w/ the aromatase mechanisms. Fat and estrogen have no DIRECT relation; and sat fat is still fat, thus it fits this statement. Don't overtheorize yourself, it's not healthy.

no, i dont think so!
How can you say fat and estrogen have no direct correlation when you are the one stating that sat fat directly raises testosterone levels??????hmmmmmmmmmm?
what the article was stating is that saturated fat perhaps complicates the activity of testosterone at the nuclear receptor levels and therefore you may need more test(yes this is a theory) which is why sat raises causes test raising to occur. like running fast makes it difficult to breath so you breath harder to have oxygen! sdame principle!

if one considers a sweet potato and a steak to be a good meal, would a chicken breast and a sweet potato with a pat of butter also be good? or are there better saturated fats (like from animal sources) than others (like from peanut oil)?
