Wandering if any of you guys could tell me how long you had to take off from lifting till rotator cuff healed. I hurt mine 9 days ago and the pain is still pretty bad and I havent done any upper body work since. This sucks, advice please guys..

ya my rotator cuff has been bothering me for like a year now, gradually getting worse. But whenever i give myself rest, up to 2 weeks off one time, it doesn't get better. Wish i could fix this heh :) mostly it gives me trouble on flat benching.

For scotty, if its a recenty injury should heal on its own if you let it, I answered the question on AAS forum in some depth.

Leatherface if your injury is chronic and it doesnt heal your going to be in for some trouble. Most often these types of injuries are simply due to strans/sprains in the tendons/ligaments supporting the joint, once stretched and weakened the joint gets sloppy. If it is not allowed to heal by contiueing heavy lifting, use of ice and anti-inflamatories the body has no choice since reducing inflamation greatly reduces healing. In an effort to stabalize the joint calcium will buils up in the joint as well as often times the lose joint causes cartiledge damage over time as well. Since you injuryt is so old I would recomend seeking out a prolotherapist in your area, treatments are fast and simple, sone once every few weeks usually and offer incredible releif of pain and overall joint strengthening. You can read more about prolotherapy or find a doc near you at prolonews.com

I have had pain in my rotators from benching bodybuilder style. The pain was so unvearable, I gave up barbell bench press altogether.
I bench PL style with no pain. But what made a huge difference was working my rotators at least 3 times a week. I do DB cleans for 2-3 sets of 15-20 reps. It took a few months, but I am completely pain free in my rotators.

If you guys are not already doing some, I HIGHLY suggest you start some rotator work for leg, shoulder and chest days. I promise, in a few months, you will not believe the difference.

start running out side

when I injured my self some years back it was so bad that I ended up taking a year off .

I wish I had done cardio or at least something

I got fat and sad

you need to prepeare yoor self
and accept a short lay off of at least 6 weeks

running out side will keep you upper body strong, and tight, yes you will lose mass and strength, but accept it and move on

running will keep everything in order, especially if you run hard

good luck

we hav all been through this before

heed my advice

take care
