Resting

Legion Kreinak

I know to let the muscles rest at least 48 hours before using them again (thus, every other day) and see how you guys sometimes work muscle groups once a week. However, I also hear not to let them rest for longer than a period of 96 hours (thus, every four days). Am I missing something hear? I bet I'll hear "I work them so much they need more rest". If anything is overtraining, then I think that is.

You need to differentiate between individual muscle groups and muscle in general.

For specific muscle groups:
- need at least 48 hours rest before you work them again
- only really need to be worked twice a week TOPs.

For muscles in general:
- to maintain muscle, you need to do some sort of resistance excercise at least every three days. In other words, if you miss more than three days in a row, you'll begn to lose muscle size.

By maintain muscle... well I guess you only mean size then. Because the bodyweight training I do will definately increase strength, and it's done M.W.F. That's three days a week. Along with alot of cardio and such.
