Question About GI of Lactose

Well, I'm starting a new diet and routine soon. I'm going to be following HST. Anyway, I drink about a half gallon of milk daily, maybe a little less. I've been drinking it all my life (usually 1% or 2%) and love it. My question is, is having that many sugary carbs from the milk bad? I plan to cut carbs after 6-7 PM. I'm not a hardcore bodybuilder or lifter by any means, just want to be a bit above average. Can I get by with consuming this much milk, without gaining a lot of fat or anything?

Just curious. I rambled a bit, sorry bros. Thanks.

Hey, you know how I said I wasn't sure? I lied :D Just now I looked at my NASM personal trainer materials from way back when and they had it.

On a scale of 0-100, 0 being soybeans and 100 being pure glucose, they give milk a 35. That's pretty low, below most breads and vegetables.

lactose is a medium GI sugar....composed of gucose-galactose

galactose fills liver glycogen preferentialy then fat reserves if memeory serves right...glucose is your standard sugar

but its not that big a deal IMO....if your super hardcoe then avoid mlk as people have always complaind about sodium and the sugars but if like me your not that hardcore then go for it...just don;t go overboard drinking the stuff

Whole milk may score a 35, but skim and reduced fat milk I'm sure will score higher in the absceonce of fat.

So is 7 glasses a day minimum "overboard"?

do you always have it with protein shakes?

if you don't i would probably save it as a treat...though maybe thats just me
