protein shake fart and diarrhea

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my problem with you and see if I can any opinions. Since I started taking protein it makes me gas for about an hour or two hours after I have my shake, some times I get slight diarrhea which is very uncomfortable specially when I'm at work, is that a particular problem of protein shakes? or am I intolerant to protein powder?

Farts and GI issues from protein supplements is actually a very common problem. The protein powder you are using most likely is a whey concentrate and contains a significant amount of lactose. A lot of adults are lactose intolerant, which can cause GI issues like farts and diarrhea.

You need to be using a whey isolate powder. It is slightly more expensive, but virtually carbohydrate (lactose) and fat free.

I recommend isolation from n2bm.com. Each 30g serving contains 26g protein, 1g carbohydrate and 0g fat. It is a pure whey isolate that is naturally flavoured and sweetened with stevia.

Most probably this is happening because your protein is made with whey concentrate, not the isolate, and it has lactose in it. In most cases people have GI issues with protein when it has lactose in it. Therefore, your best option would be to choose a protein product that will have only whey isolate, which is the purest form of whey protein that has no lactose at all.

For instance, there are such products as the Isolation. It is as safe for the stomach as it gets, since it has only whey isolate, no artificial sweetners, and no additives that could cause stomach stress. Therefore, it is the best solution for someone who gets stomach problems with protein.

Could be that either you are lactose intolerant, of that the protein that you use is pretty bad quality and contains loads of awful additives to it

we get this question everyday.

if something bothers your stomach ELIMINATE it. that is called elimination diet. you don't keep putting something in your body that fucks up your stomach.. how are you supposed to kill it in the gym when you got shit leaking out your anus during your squats?

Hahaha. Gym partner just called me. "Man I'm going to have to skip today, I'm got the shits like I've never seen before". Good thing because today is legs. And that's dangerous for the squat sessions.

This is a very common occurrence. It is typically due to an inferior protein powder that is made of whey concentrate. Whey concentrate contains lactose which most people have some degree of intolerance to. I would check your powder and make sure to get one that is pure whey isolate. The other option is to just get rid of the shakes and eat more real whole foods like eggs and lean meats.
