NOT enough salt

Can we take NOT enough salt ?

sounds weird isn't it ?

Since we are here more or less obsessed by what we eat, we don't eat processed food, we don't eat in fat food restaurants and we've got rid of our salt Table (OK it is not entirely true but you get the picture)

and as food are naturally poor in sodium (most of them) I guess we may take not enough sodium to compensate the loss (by sweat during our intense trainings)

I've found that a few shakes of salt on my eggs helps me maintain a little water weight and also helps to prevent muscle cramps. I get too dehydrated, even when drinking as much as 2 gallons of water per day, when I don't eat any sodium. After a hard run I would also wake up at night with cramps in my hammies that hurt so bad they would make me yell.

I have no nutritional analysis, but I would say a little sodium is beneficial, at least in my experience. Yours may differ though...

salt gets such a bad rap, it's perfectly fine and healthy if you hydrate sufficiently and balance your electrolytes with k+, but a deficiency in potassium is literally unheard of in the western world though.

i agree with psilo, it helps with my water balance too.

excess anything is bad, so cutting the salt out completely makes me water retain crazily.
