Leg day.

Did some squats. Felt good. Moved onto some SLDLs ...

First 3 sets were good. 3rd rep of the 4th set ... It happens ...

I feel intense pain about 3-4 inches to the right of my spine, in my lower back.

One bad rep ... and it all goes to shit ...

This happened (as some may recall) to me a few months back, doing conv. deads. It healed nicely, and I came back strong. In fact, I set a PR deadlifting when I came back from the injury. Now, it fucking happens again. I am seriously upset about this, and seriously considering why the hell I even lift in the first place ...

sorry to hear that bro.. hope it heals quick.. word of advice.. next time do some GM's instead of SLDL build up your lower back strength.. its obviously your weak link... make sure you arch your back too.. good luck

I have had some lower back issues as well bro, only mine always blows out on heavy squats.. For me its a disk which slips out of place.. Normally a couple days doing low weight high rep Reverse Hypers has be back up to par though... I would definitly suggest you start doing them if you don't already.. They're amazing for rehab purposes.

Sometimes if you squat really deep the lower back will strongly come into play. Obviously, this is an area that requires strengthening. I wish you luck. It sounds like a nasty muscle pull, but surely it is nothing serious. Keep us updated.

Do Romanian deadlifts intsead in the future. GM can be dangerous too.

Reverse hypers should be done for rehab - just BW will get you back in no time

Been right there man. It hits me on the left side, but its the same thing. That twisting sensation that runs from lower to mid-spine. It's extremely discouraging becuase you feel it on every lift while you're waiting for it to heal up, sometimes for a month or more.

You know the drill. Lot of stretching and stay off the DLs and squats for a while.

Thanks fellas. I appreciate it.

Romanian deads? Could you give a short explanation?

I've done reverse hypers. They ARE an amazing exercise. Looks like my back day will consist of lots of these for a while ...

the exact same thing happened to me a couple months ago. i'm just now starting back. hope ya get better

well they're kinda like a partial deadlift

hold a bar in your hands
stick your ass back as far as you can go, back straght, bar close to body, lower it down in a straight line, legs bend as you do.

You should reach a natural termination point when the bar reaches just below the knee. If the plates touch the ground, your back is rounding :)

It like shutting a car door with you bum :)

here is a good vid of it

One bad thing I've noticed since I started doing RDLs, my butt is getting nmore pointed! I have naturally large and round glutes, and well RDLs have added more size so they are almost pointed looking from the side :)

SLDL don't hit the glutes as much, more hammies

But since I wanna jump as high as possible and run super fast, big strong glutes are a must

I have the same problem, but in the middle of my back. The doctors say I have a compressed disk or two... good thing for me it wasn't a herniated disk (as I didn't have shooting pains down my arm and such).

What works good for me is a cross-body strech. Sit down, legs straight out in front of you, bring one leg up so your foot is at the same place as your other leg's knee is at. Now, put the "brought up" leg on the other side of your straight one. Form this position, turn your body the opposite direction of your crossed leg... It really does work wonders.
