New Powerlifting Usa Article. George Halbert Say's...

Hey if you can increase your bench without raw benching more power to ya.

My training partner has done it. But he is bummed about his raw bench cause he does train raw with me. But the heavy boards have really increased his max.

And one side note. He my training partner, who i have trained with for almost 3 years now that is coming into his own now. He is curretly 181lbs and is putting up over 500lbs. But what we're gonna do is get him lasixed down to 165 for the WPO bench bash for cash 2002 and he will actually lift at 185 plus (48 hr weigh in) and he WILL become the best bencher (beside Marcus shick) at 165 and under. Angelo, Larry miller, August clark you name it , if it aint Markus he will beat them.

I promise!

I have strayed a lot from doing a lot of flat bench work and started focusing on my overhead work a lot more for contests...but I did speed bench today. I have only done speed bench about 2-3x in the last month or two because of contest prep and recovery afterwards. My max effort day is an overhead press. Here is what I did.

Speed Bench
225 x 3 x 8 sets
315 x 2
365 x 1
405 x 1

All in all...it felt pretty good. I did my speed work and a few heavier singles.
