Thanks to the great advice from Daisy Girl and reading jj's posts I have really changed my training habits. It took a long time - I was a die hard Atkins dieter and ran 10 plus miles a day in addition to weight training. Sounds crazy I know! Since I have added back carbs - low glycemic(!) I have managed to get UP TO 11.8% body fat! With that being said... I had an awesome workout today! I ran 6 7:50 pace miles - came home starved. Had 1/2 of a protein shake - still starved I decided to eat. I had egg whites and oatmeal and WOW what an energy boost! I did chest and back - heavy weights good reps. Great work out but now that my muscles are fried I am disappointed that my training for the day is over! I wish I could do another workout tonight! Do you ever experience this? How do you handle it?
Thanks!!

Yes i get that energy rush as I want to do another workout but our bodies need rest and if we do another workout we will overtrain...I get my energy rush from the Stack too... And defiately eating right is the key..Since I have started eating right I am down to 17% bodyfat and a size 4... I am at my bulking stage right now, gaining size like crazy, I start my cuttin diet come August..Do my very first bodybuilding competition this November SWFC.

That is so awesome you had a good training day! :)

Joe's Girl is right about overtraining, and I think you know that. I would put all the energy and excitement of the day into eating clean....thinking about how each clean meal is helping you have a good workout TOMORROW. :)

Just enjoy your good day! :) I bet tonight you'll be super tired! :)

WOW!! What excellent advice! Thanks to the both of you! I amreally tring with my diet! My goal is to keep an ACCURAT(!) food log in fitday and to really watch portion size. I am even considereing some Smartones dessert treats once a week because they are portioned out. My DH is a bodybuilder and he does the carb up thing 2 times each week. I made the mistake of joining him a few times and TOTALLY regretted it! Not so much due to the weight gain but due to the amount of food that I am able to consume! My portion control seems to get too loose at night so I am trying to perfect that - even if it means having a cup of air popped popcorn (I know - bad carb!) - this amount is better than what I used to do! I mix this with a few nuts and that holds me better than when I would make a protein shake. By the time I finished mixing my shake I had toooo many additional artificial items to sweeten it up and I am sure I ended up consuming more calories that I should!
So here is to my challence of trying to balance by not over training and to continue to work on portion control!
By the way...lunch was a grilled vegetable kabob with 2 ounces of boneless skinless chicken!

Don't you just love when you have a spectacular training day at the gym? I love it....

But be careful not to overtrain.....if you have this much extra energy, come clean my house!! just kidding.....

Glad to see you are keeping some room in your eating plan for some treats. Those that are portion controlled help me too.....

Thanks Jen!
Had another awesome workout today! Bi/tri follwed by a 60 minute 7.5 mile run. Felt great the entire time but I definately did not have enough carbs yesterday because the run was more work than usual! Today is carb load for my dh. This always scares me because I can keep up with him - No I can blow him away and he is 115 more lbs than I am! I am really going for the portion control thing. If I have anything it will be from a snack sized bag etc... I hate this! I am so disciplined and then the sun sets and my displine goes down with it! I am having a massage at 5:00 - part of my job believe it or not(!) and that should calm me down and help me get my bearings! I keep thinking of Daisy Girls advice on the importance of eating clean. This is worse than the peer pressure in high school!!
Have a great day

I know EXACTLY how you feel.....My hubby works out with me but doesn't do the diet with me....he's not an eater -- he can go for DAYS without eating, so if he does eat that's good for him, but he's always asking me "Want some chips, want a beer? how about a pudding??" Ugh!! I have a hard time saying NO! and if it's in the house I feel like I have to eat it. It's so tough with a kid who's 2" wide (she's 17) and my hubby. Sticking with eating clean is very very tough.....

I need to start posting more when I'm tempted so I can get the support so I stay away!!

I had an awesome run at lunch got both worlds a tan and cardio, my indurance has picked up so much before al I could do was run maybe like 5 minutes now I can do 45 minutes straight..I train with my boyfriend too and he is the same he eats what he eats what he likes like chocolate chips etc.
it is hard when he eats this in front of me, plus we have all these other treats in the house because we have a daughter and she is 2, but sometimes I have a little treat we are only human right, nobody can be perfect..
