Need to add fats...........

Going to add some fats (oils are prob. best, right) to a few meals to up my calories for a clean bulk......I have a myoplex mid-am - should I add a tb of flax or 2 tbs of natty pb?

Also, preworkout - I'm adding either flax or pb to my shake, which is better?


Does flax give you energy?
 
I have never noticed an increase in energy while using flax (other than the normal increase from eating). Fats contain about 6 cals per gram, so they are helpful if you are trying not to burn protein for energy, not to mention the usual benfits from the EFA's. However, I would not count on flax seed for energy.
 
Fat has 9 cals per gram while carbs/protein contains 4 cals per gram. As mentioned, don't expect 'energy' from flax, at least I have not noticed any.

My main fat sources include:

* Flax oil
* Olive oil
* Natural peanut butter
* Udo's oil (mixture of EFA's)
* Borlean's oil (another brand, like UDO's)
* Labrada EFA lean (another brand of EFA's)
* fish oil
 
Cool....so, I put a tb of flax in my myoplex mid-am.........and I will add 2 tb of pb to my preworkout whey.....then just glucose and whey post...with a meal an hour later...........

PB preworkout and flax seed/fish oil before bed

Does flax give you energy?
No, carbs give you energy, not fat
but fats are rich in calories and when you don't take enough calories you lack enerf
