My take on Wrestlemania....

Big Brother Val said:

I hear you, my man.

I agree... Rock and Hogan is what made it so spectacular. I would have watched it no matter who Hogan was wrestling. I was just saying that Rock vs. Austin wouldn't have drawn the same as a Hogan vs. Austin match is all.

Rock and Hogan put on a better, more exciting match than any two other stars alive could have pulled.

That was the greatest match of all time.

I recorded it, and have watched it at least 6 times.

I can't get over it.

I was like a kid again... filled with anticipation and excitement.

I was happy with the ending, and sad at the same time. I hate to see Hogan get beat, but he didn't really get beat. He just did what was necessary.

It was like watching the young martial arts guy finally be able to take down his master.

You had the young, strong, energetic Rock, take down the aged, strong veteran Hogan. The two walking back up the ramp together was a site to see.

And was it just me, or was the Rock almost teary-eyed at the end in front of the Titantron, when Hogan raised his hand again, and said that Rock was the best?

Yeah, we're in agreement about Rock/Austin vs. Hogan/Austin.

I was extremely happy with the ending, but I was pulling for the Rock all the way through. I thought all along this was going to be a passing of the torch match, but my fear was that Nash and Hall would run in and break up the pin.

Rock could've been teary-eyed, I don't remember. I think his admiration for the man is genuine.

The reason Hogan wouldn't job to anyone in WCW (although he did on rare occassions) is because there was no one WORTHY enough for him to job to.

Look at who he had for opponents:

The Giant (Big Show) Ger real. Couldn't wrestle his way out of a wet dream.

Lex Luger : The biggest failure around.

Sting : washed up and over the hill. His physique has deteroirated horribly. He has become lame and copy cat-ish.

DDP : get a clue. He is still just a mid carder.

WCW never built any REAL superstars like the WWF does. In WCW you were either a star or you were not. They tried to make one with Goldberg, but it ended up being ridiculous. He only had one expression - that slack jaw. Thank god I don't have to look at that anymore.

I thought there would be a run-in... until before the match when Hogan told Hall and Nash not to run in.

I'm glad there wasn't.

I REALLY thought the Rock was turning heel though. I was convinced.

But oh yeah... I'm really glad it was a clean win. Even without Hogan being victorious. I'm happy for him. He must have felt great with that type of ovation.

um you left out El Dandy bro.

Jae... I think you're right. I wouldn't wanna job to those guys either.

But hey... he jobbed to freakin' Kidman... what... 5 times in a row?

And Nature Boy... The Dandy was too busy conquering all of South America to play in the ring with Hogan.

That or he was on the shitter most of the time, after that damn 100 burritos for a dollar deal at Glenn's House of Tacos.

Well 1st off I have to say the Hogan vs Rock match was one of the best matches I have seen since the Hogan vs Warrior at wrestlemania 6 and the steamboat vs savage match in I THINK wresltemania 3.

Ive been watching wrestling for 24 yrs, ive seen every wrestlemania live, and every pay per view since wrestlemania 1 (which was the 1st pay per view wrestling event )since I think hogan was a bad guy and classy freddy blassie was his manager…and this match is without a doubt one of the greatest ever! I was amazed at how the hogan fans and the old hogan fans who got tired of him after the 1st year of now in the wcw finally came around again and realized how great hogan really is. I mean the crowd and cheering at the Hogan vs Rock match was UNREAL!! I havent seen the fans SCREAM like that since he beat yokozuna after yokozuna beat brett hart in I think wrestlenania 9 or something…I mean unreal!! And even the leg drop which has been played out for years,, the fans went BALLISTIC when they saw him drop the leg.
And the way they screamed, I mean really screamed when hogan would knock rock down and then do old school hogan and pose and freak out..the fans ate it up and went nuts…even the rock finally realized the amount of hogan fans when they booed rock and cheered hogan, you could see the rocks face and had the look of like “well fuck you then fans if you don’t like me” he literally had the look of hate for the fans. I mean shit when hogan did his “psych out” which in the past 3-4 yrs when that happens the crowd would be like “oh here we go again with the pysch out and regaining strength”, this time the fans LOVED it they screamed as if it was 1984 allover again with rock vs sheik, AMAZING. Like I said I havent seen them cheer hogan like this in along time..it was, as they say, pandamonium reminiscent of the cheers hogan and mr t got in wrestlemania 1, DEAFENING, I remember the tv cameras would literally shake from all the noise. What happened with the Hogan vs Rock match was just like what happened in wrestlemania 3 when andre passed the torch to hogan, now hogan passed the torch to the rock after seeing the staying power the rock has. FYI this is only the 2nd time since hogan had the belt in 1984 that he legitamately lost a match in the wwf, the 1st time was wrestlemania 6 with hogan vs ultimate warrior where hogan decided he should lose the match, but we all know what happened next..it was only a matter of yrs before the warrior became another flash in the pan. I mean he’d pop up here and there but just couldn’t stick with it.

Bottom line, the Hogan vs Rock match was unreal, I got chills like I used to when I was a kid, the crowd was amazing, I wish I could have been there, im for sure gonna go see hogan one of these days at a smackdown or raw.

Long live “the Hogan”

Very well said. Great job capturing the excitement of the whole experience.

And I agree with you. I've seen 'em all... but they pale in comparison to this match.

It's all over the on the internet...

Even of WWF.com... the recap of Raw when the Rock got booed.... they actually write that... I thought for sure they'd leave that part out.

The fans were all over Hogan.

And I am very happy for him.

That has to feel really good.

And the man deserves it.

MY GOD WHAT A MOMENT IN WRESTLING HISTORY THAT WAS!!
