My girlfriends back / shoulders ! Please advise!

Her shoulders and her back is kinda big in my eyes i guess from previous weight lifting. I find this a big turn off and would love to see if theres anything she could do to get her back or shoulder muscles smaller.

Thanks for your replies.

Build up yours so you don't look small next to hers?

Wow... not knowing what you see I can't speak to your opinion - however I'd venture that its a very common trait for women to have very weak, small, rounded shoulders and its a goal and desire to have a strong lat / trap / delt combo w/ nice capping to win figure competitions and to wear sexy black dress....

Subscribed. My curiosity is piqued.

Obviously it absolutely matters what she thinks more than what you think. Also maybe she's born that way. I've always had big shoulders / upper back -very easy to rip the shoulders out of a button-up shirt. Only way I can get it "down" is to diet waaaaay down.

My back is pretty big thats not the issue. Hopefully i can take a picture tonight. Her back is just too wide in my opinion.

Thanks for all the replies.

I couldn't possibly help here. I find a strong back on a woman to be sexy.
PM me her pics for acomplete evaluation. :verygood:

Yea - I guess still - what does SHE think? Its so subjective how people think someone should look.

At the end of the day I think I consider this quote to be the final word.

What a disgrace it would be for a (wo)man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his (her) body is capable. -Socrates

Just curious. Do you think her back looks too wide all of the time; just when she's working out; and or does she tend to flex her shouldersand lats even on her down time? The reason I ask is that I wasn't aware that I was flexing ( not in a big way but still not completely relaxed,) when I was simply standing or walking down the street. It wasn't until my Doctor asked me to relax my shoulders while she was examining me that I realized that I was somewhat posing all of the time. Can become a major pain in the neck by the way.

Ahhh, don't let it bug you, clothing designers don't design with wide shoulders in mind. If you have big shoulders, they expect you to have huge breasts (they're not designing for actual shoulders, mind you, just back fat).

Women are not supposed to have deltoids, triceps or biceps ... at least that's what I think whenever I go to try on clothing

And this is basically why I live in jeans and t-shirts :lmao:

HAHAHHAHAHQHAA

No, really my shoulders have always been a pain in the ass for me - my back dominates - BOO.

If I could get the shoulders right before the boobs reach my waist I'll be very happy.

I live in yoga pants, boots and tees - Victoria Secret must love me.

Ha! we're also not supposed to be tall!
thank gawd for lowrise stretch denim and mens wifebeater tanktops. I live in that stuff, well besides my Brazillian supplex pants and Hard tail stuff... that fits okay. but it sure is hard finding the right fit if you have height AND muscles.

I dont think she is flexing all the time.. she did tell me in the past her back is like that because she used to do alot of heavy lifting. Question for all the nice ladies in this thread. How do I go about taking a picture of her back ? I don't want to be an ass hole.

Miami, unless a woman is actively training the HELL out of her deltoids, doing back exercises like squats, pullups and deadlifts, the shoulders and back she has are what she will ALWAYS have, the shape and proportion predetermined by genetics. Women just don't retain size in the muscles in that area easily.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I want you to realize if you're worried about being an a-hole, pointing out that you find something unattractive about her that's pretty much the genetic hand she's been dealt is mental torture for her. You'd be kinder letting her go, because it's not fair. It's like being with a woman who's 5'11" when you aren't attracted to tall chicks and you wish she was shorter, do you see what I'm saying?

Being SO focused on one particular body part, to me, says there's something else going on. It's a very extreme example of cutting off her nose to spite her face, if you get my meaning.

Hmm by this post it sounds like you have the problem with her shoulders and she doesn’t hence you not want to be an asshole about it. If she is happy with it then don’t say a thing if you want to keep your GF.

Hmmmm. .... Can you maybe get her discreetly in the shower.... you can try the before and after approach, tell her you would like to see the difference between her relaxed look and a muscle shot in a photo,... Or become a spy and lurk around corners. LOL
Jen :0)

Why don't you just ask her if she thinks she has big shoulders? If SHE doesn't think she has an issue then its sort of irrelevant what you think....

guess what Mr. Miami.. theres NO such thing as spot reducing. if she loses weight/size offf her back & shoulders- she will also lose it everywhere else meaning her proportions will stay the same.

thats genetics for ya!! lol

some jerk at lifestyle family fitnes name "wes oppy"! who calls himself the training manager, pulled out an article stating that the latest science shows that there is such a thing as spot reducing, but I still call bulls&it

The thing is when she was younger she was really petite. Im going to take one of her younger pics. She has been busy getting ready for a trip to nyc so i havent been able to see her that much this week. I will be with her tomorrow. I promise ill take some pics for yall to see.

And if you have tiny shoulders, you're supposed to have a non-existent chest bah! It's very difficult to find clothes when you have mini shoulders and a non mini chest . . . thank goodness for tight t-shirts! I could never wear shirts, they look ridiculous!!

Tis also a pain needing a 33-34 inch leg in trousers . . . and this is why I hate clothes shopping :)
