legs - problems with training

GaryWary said:
why can O not shift the big weights though? Even when I used to squat (and I will start again as soon as these aches go).. I only got to 140kg for about 6 reps.. is that bad or good? I hear many people say they push twice that..

Can you overtrain on gear?

AS I said I've got bad knees and can only deep squat about 115kgs for 8... now if it was crappy half squats that I see some people doing I can do 190kgs... get your ass to the ground and don't worry about the weight if you fail after 6-8 reps you're doing a heavy enough weight. I've found a lot of people who claim to deep squat don't even go below parallel when doing so.. perhaps they think they are but when you watch them you see differently and as I said if I counted that as squatting I would be claiming 190kg (420lb) squats which would be quite impressive!

I think you can still over train while on juice.

Actually as I have gotten older I do less work over all and squat more now than I ever have. For my legs, all I do is squat and calf work, thats it.

As for going deep, I think parallel is a good mark. Going deep just blows up my ass and makes it look larger than it allready is.

You'll never get big legs without squatting big, I'm only 5'9" and have had my quads just over 27", and that was while I was still natural, and my quad routine consisted of 5 x 5 sets on the squat
