knee soreness

after my leg workouts lately ive had a lot of soreness in behind my knee caps, im unsure as to whether this is muscle tiredness, or if im actually doing damage to my knees at all.

my leg w/o consists of,

squats, leg press, leg extensions, calf raises.

is this normal or should i be worried?

I am willing to bet that your knees are drifting too far forward when you squat.

The squat is about hip strength. . .make sure you are sitting back as much as possible.

try performing some box squats.

Work with squat form. . this might be the problem. Also with leg press, use a shoulder width stance and leg the inner thighs travel next to the rib cage. . this will help eliminate stress off the knees.

For now, practice form. . . if possible post a video.

That can also be a result in an imbalance between your quad muscles. They will exert force on the knee cap if one is way stronger than the rest, or way weaker.

Yes bad squat form can lead to the imbalance I mentioned. I know when I corrected my squat form my knees felt sooooo much better.

no machine, free weights and bar

ok that makes sense, ill try get some video and post it, im not set to do legs till next friday so ill do my best to post it then.

so i should just focus on really sitting back as far as i can without becoming unbalanaced?

and ill make sure i have my legs like that on the leg press to.

i play squash as well, but havnt since my last w/o which caused the knees to feel wierd so i doubt very much that its that.

Make sure that you are treating the squat as a hip exercise and not a knee. Practice squatting over a low bench, box, or chair. Put those hips back.
