Is Sodium bad for dieting??

Is it ok to use a ton of 0 calorie hot sauce on my chicken breast while cutting?

Now I know the sodium will make me retain more water than usual, but I can just tweak my sodium intake 1-2 weeks prior to a photo shoot so I don't think it maters if I consume of ton of eat the weeks leading up.

Other than causing you to hold excess water, is there any other bad things sodium does?

I may be wrong but it could increase your blood pressure if prone to HBP.
Bumping for more answers.

This is gonna be different for everybody. Meaning, some people are more Na-sensitive than others. Therefore, if one is sensitive to Na, then they should probably watch it a little through some trial and error on their own. Some people may never even need to worry about sodium until the week prior to a show.

So if you don't have blood pressure issues with salt is it ok to not really worry about it? Like a certain med I take has about 700mg of sodium per dose. I often takes it 3-4 times a day. That's 2100-2800mg of sodium a day on top of regular diet sodium (relatively low). I check my blood pressure often and it's always within normal range though - even right after taking the med. So is BP and bloating the biggest issue with moderately high sodium intake? I should mention I drink an average of 2 gallons of water a day.

YES, especially if its 0 cal, 0 sugar, etc... sodium not only adds flavor but it helps keep you full and loyal to your diet. The hot sauce especially will raise your metabolism a bit so its very good.

Drop the salt a few weeks before a competition/shoot and you should shapen up nicely.

it has no adverse effects unless you have HBP, in fact, sodium is anabolic. aside from bloating you, it will help you. in moderation of course.
Anabolic?
You mean like D-Bol or Tren?
LOL
I know what article you're refering to
unfortunately it's BS (BTW there was no ref in this article if I remind correctly)

Apart from that, I think people shouldn't be too anal
Salt add flavor to our crappy food (egg whites, plain chicken breast etc) with very few adverse effects (if you don't have BP issues)

Unless you're close to a competition, enjoy life, add salt to your food according to your taste

Yeah, aside from bloating and blood pressure, sodium's all good. This goes especially for someone doing a lot of cardio and sweating a lot, which can throw your electrolytes out of whack.

Actually I've read this to be a myth. According to some studies you would have to use an entire bottle of hot sause to get a bump in metabolism, and even then it is shown to be be extremely marginal.
