im sure most of you older guys dont have to deal with it but i do...
i've been watching my weight for a contest, and i just started cutting for it...i was 1 lb below and it was 4 weeks out. so i started doing some light cardio in the morning, and like 2 weeks later i weigh myself and i gained 5 lbs. it also turns out i grew an inch(about an inch).... so its ognna be harder for me to make weight now

but on the other hand, since i grew, i set a new DL personal record, and a new bench PR, and im going for a new squat pr on friday (not really a all time pr, just a pr after my injury)

for dl i got 305, bench i got 190, and squat im going for 225.
anyways, i just wanna know some weighs to drop a few lbs right before a contest without losing some strength, i only have 2 hours after weighin til contest starts...
so far all i know is lessen my water intake 24 hours before the contest and almost stop it, im gonna do some cardio and sweat alot a day or two before to lose a lb or two... any other ideas

My suggestion is to eat a lot, and go up a weight class. Although, you may not be interested in that for a meet coming up in the near future.

Best way to lose some weight is to cut out carbs. You will lose a lot of water weight pretty quick by cutting out carbohydrates. When I had to make weight for a karate match when I was younger, I would cut carbs way down, and drink a lot of high protein low carb shakes. I think that this was a pretty good way of losing weight without losing too much strength. Start as far out from the meet as possible.

Powerlifterjay may disagree, but my theory on making weight is to lose it early and over as long a period as possible. But I know Jay drops a lot pretty close to weigh in time. But I think he has two days to recover and gain his weight back before lifting. I have never had the chance to weigh in that far ahead of time. I have only had to make weight just before an event.

Hope this helps,

B

Hey man well today i was suppose to have a meet and i was lifting in 168 weight class well yesterday i weighed 174 so i new i had to drop weight. Now what i did ALOT or all of the people on here would say i'm crazy but whatever i did it and it worked for me. Starting 5p.m. yesterday all i ate for dinner was a protein bar with low carbs low fat then i drank only when i got thirsty and i took 3 arbuterols(water weight loss pills). Went to sleep at 930p.m. I woke up at 600a.m. and drank less than 8fl oz of water enough to swallow 3 more arbuterols and didn't eat anything then i took 1 protein bar with me to school at 930 i ate a piece of it maybe 1/4 of it then drank a sip of water maybe 4fl oz then at 1100 i had another 1/4 of the bar and 4fl oz of water with 3 more arbuterols (side note i must have pissed 5 times since 5pm the night before to 11) then at 1240 i had another piece of the bar and 4fl oz of water and around 230 is when i had the last piece. Well since i ended up having my meet canceled I had a friendly meet at school which my coach put on so we did weigh ins and everything like we normally would i weighed in at 166. I lost 8lbs from 5 pm last night to 320 that i weighed in. Well after weigh ins at meets we can eat or drink however much we want for 30-45 minutes so i took 20 minutes to eat this is how i put all the weight back on your gonna love this part. I started off eating a protein bar so i wouldn't use that much of my own muscle then i ate a whole sub from subway meatball sub. then i ate 4 cookies, 2 oatmeal cream pies, a huge chunk of cake and drank a 2liter bottle of orange soda i got back on the scal and weighed 171 and when i lifted it was the same as if i wouldn't have done anything on top of that i even forgot to take my creatine that i normally take before lifting so I know i didn't lose any strength. Now i know how to drop a good 8lbs in less than 24 hours my coach was soo surprised b/c he thought i was gonna lift 183
